Hello Friends, We woke up early this morning and caught a camineta from Chiquimula to El Florido, the border town between Guatemala and Honduras. Our backpacks were buried on top of the bus on a luggage rack under huge baskets of produce, but at least that way we knew they could not possibly get stolen. The drive was breathtaking, with lush green trees, mineral laden red soil, and beautiful, clean little villages along the way. I am sooo not a city girl. While Nicole loved Chiquimula, I could not wait to get out. The border crossing was a bit hairy, with having to pay a Guatemala exit fee in quetzales, exchanging quetzales for Hondurian lemparis, having to pay an entry fee for Honduras, then having to find a camineta to Copan Ruinas.
