Geo: -16.9254, 145.775 Cairns was very hot on arrival, above 30 degrees, we got a shared mini bus to the hostel which turned out out to be run by a fellow Glaswegian and his Australian wife!! Small world, his Dad still lives at home and I'd just round the corner from me and he knows some of the same people, it's unbelievable. Cairns is so clean and groomed and the walk into the main shops and marina is really chilled, relaxing with a boardwalk filled with local art works. There's butterflies and litterbugs and pianos for anyone to play, free gyms all along the walkway and also a huge free Zumba class. The marina has some of the largest yachts I've ever seen and I love walking round them, on the way back there's a huge ... read more

Geo: -33.8671, 151.207 Sydney was just a pit stop on the way to Cairns, we were hardly there really, did head out of the airport for couple of hours but just a few photos before getting our connecting flight. Flying in was amazing though, right in the harbour with stunning views of the city. Landing was pretty spectacular as you would think you were going to land right in the harbour ... Thrilling... read more

Geo: 13.7308, 100.521 When we got back to Bangkok we arranged to go the the floating markets. First though it was the James bond style speed boat along canals to get us near the markets which was great fun. Then we were put on tiny wooden canal boats but Raymie was freaking me out, every time he moved I thought the boat was going to capsize! The water is green and disgusting and I really don't want to end up falling in. Anyway we're taken round the markets on the boat but its chaos, so many people and boats but also fascinating. I love in particular the boats selling fruit, they're so colorful, there's coconut drinks and spices, also snake charmers and deadly spiders.. Creeps! It's well worth the visit and was probably my favorite place ... read more

Geo: 8.07257, 98.9105 Now this is more like it... Krabi is stunning, a real paradise island. To get here we took a car from Phuket, then a ferry to Phi Phi Island which was beautiful, and we ended up staying a number of hours before the next ferry to Krabi was due. I loved the trip today, I was all windswept and caught a bit of the sun as I sat out on deck enjoying the sea and sun - this is what I love. On arrival at Krabi, I wander the beaches, and watch the incredible sunsets, I can't believe how quick the sun goes down but it's because we are so close to the equator. I enjoy a full body massage but the masseuse nearly kills Raymie with walking over his back..haha. Poor Raymie, ... read more

Geo: 7.89072, 98.3988 We decided to head to Phuket as I wanted to see some of the islands and the incredible sea stacks that I've only seen in pictures but are the main reason I'm here, so we booked Thai airways and headed out. I had to take a photograph as soon as I got on the aircraft as it's so colourful and the crew are stunning. The women are so petite, and beautiful with their perfect complexion and dark hair and brightly colored uniforms. The pictures are deceiving, Phuket was like Bangkok but on an Island, although it has the bonus of having stunning beaches. Flying in was amazing my first views of the incredible sea stacks was exhilarating ;) I loved the landing and a car took us down to the hotel which is ... read more

Geo: 13.7308, 100.521 On arrival at the airport, we arranged for a prepaid taxi to take us to the Hotel - the taxis are all amazing colours! Yellow combined with green or bright pinks and blues, I've never seen anything like it! Raymie arranges payment at a stand, taking prepaid ticket and soon we are on our way through the sky rise buildings of Bangkok which is just a complete maze... it's wonderful! Even though I'm tired from my traveling, combined with being so excited - I can't wait to get out to explore Bangkok but first things first. The hotel is 5 star and I'm completely in awe... it has the most amazing reception area, very modern and everything is spotless. There are armed guards on the entrance but that seems to be at every ... read more

Geo: 55.8656, -4.25722 So Dad dropped Raymie and I off at the airport and wished us well on our travels. I had bought the same bag as Raymie which thankfully had wheels on it, although I know I have far too much stuff with me! Anyway, we got our luggage checked the whole way to Bangkok so didn't have to worry about it when we arrived at Heathrow, the flight from Glasgow was smooth and we were soon looking at the biggest Jumbo plane that I had ever seen which we were getting ready to board. I was really excited:0 On the plane, the in flight entertainment screen's were on the back of every seat, you could choose from movies, music, radio etc. or watch the interactive map which showed you your location, height, temperature which ... read more
