Hi Loyal Followers, So today was our last day in China!!! :( It has been amazing, we have only been to two other countries so far but its stood out as the best by far!!! We have enjoyed all the history (there is so much), all the new modernisation of the country (too fast really as the gap between the poor and the rich is huge), and the food of course (not noodles though well pre-packed pot noodles!!). We were still in Zhongshan, but had not booked any way of getting to Hong Kong (forward thinking people). We checked out of our hotel and managed to sort out the bill, and get them to write down the bus station name for a taxi, after a massive £1.75 taxi we got to the bus station and managed ... read more

Hello People, So we are on our 3rd blog of the day, this was because or laptop (Neil's) broke down but it is all back running now!! Neil said it was a voltage problem at the other hostel!! I am so relieved I was having spooks withdrawal!!!! I am ill!!! This is the first time I have been ill the whole of China!!! But lucky for me I have my amazing boyfriend Neil to look after me, in between trips to the shitter and giving me cuddles!!! He got me fruit for breakfast, then I asked for western food for lunch so he brought back a Starbucks lunch of chicken salad, fruit bread and a choco pain (the boy did very good), dinner he brought back fruit again but it was delicious and 100% helping the ... read more

Hello all, We made the decision last night to book a hostel for two nights in Zhongshan, with the intension of getting a bus into Macau two days in a row. We couldn't afford to stay in Macau, and Zhongshan is only about 30km away and at about a 5th of the price. However, after we had booked the hostel here we were informed that we would not be able to go to Macau for the day and then re enter mainland China (i.e. back to our hostel, where our bags are) due to immigration laws like HK. So, we have decided to hopefully go to Macau on the ferry when we are already in Hong Kong. We have come to this hostel in Zhongshan anyway because we would have lost money on the pre-booking fee. ... read more

Hello Followers, So today we woke up in Guangzhou, Vicky had a good night sleep I on the other hand did not!! Looking, we found my mattress was about 1 cm thick so it was like sleeping on the wooden slates however Vicky was 4 inches!!! We had planned to head to Foshan today to see Vicks ex step cousin Aaron, who she hasn't seen for about 10 years. We were lucky as we could get the metro all the way there with only 2 stops and it was only 77p/single!! So an hour and a bit later we arrived. First impression was poor it seemed a bit run down but it was on the edge of the city so we held back our expectations. Aaron is teaching English out here which definitely appeals to Vick. ... read more

Hello People, So we were lucky enough to get another lie in this morning, it was good but same as normal we were both up at 7am!!! Still out of bed at 8am. We headed into town for some breakfast, I had dumplings, as the Chinese were and if its good enough for them its good enough for me!!! Vick managed to get some good fruit bread at last and bought a mango, this disappeared in record time in the hostel. (I think she enjoyed it) We sorted out a few things and then headed to the travel agents to get or bus to Guangzhou, when arriving they told us the times had changed and the type of bus had changed, one of this was good the other not so!! They delayed us an hour however ... read more

Hi Loyal followers, So our morning plans were to get up early and head to breakfast, this disappeared when we decided to have a lie in, so breakfast was skipped and we packed to get our pick up to our river Li trip at 8am. Our bus was late (typical) but eventually arrived and we boarded, it was packed and we managed to get the last 2 seats. Once on the train, I managed to get some ladies attention, she lent over and said my son thinks your very handsome and strong (kid was 3 years old), this was the 5th lady in 12 hours to show me attention. (Vick laughed but has been giving me extra attention all day). Our tour guy was a nice guy and was very animated!! When we got there he ... read more

Hey followers So Neil started to write this blog....was basically a rant about the 3rd class train from Chengdu to Guilin. 25 hours, only £35 though. Wasn't too bad, I finished Gone Girl, amazing scenery out of the window too. So Neil had this blogged finished and then the internet crashed so he lost it all-my version is definitely not as detailed as you can see. I am going to re-write what I wrote some how!!! Im pissed off!!! We had a lie in in Chengdu morning as the weather was awful!! We were going to go to the Chengdu university where Vick stayed while working on her dissertation in uni, but for the weather!! We headed for breakfast Vick had some fruit but i had this amazing spicy beef hot roll, it was so good!!! ... read more

Hello! Woke up early this morning to catch the (many) buses to Leshan (to see the Grand Buddha). We are both feeling quite ill with cold :-( but we only have one full day left in Chengdu so we have to do this trip to day if we want to see it. We set off to catch the 55 bus at the end of our road, which was 20 minutes to Xinnanmen bus station, only 22p each. There we had to walk back on ourselves a little to get to this main bus station where we bought £5 tickets to Leshan, the large minibus left very soon after we bought these tickets so there was no waiting round for us :-) Two hours later we arrived in Leshan, but to get to the Grand Buddha we ... read more

Hello Followers, We mainly came to Chengdu to visit the Giant Panda breeding research centre. It is about 10km north of Chengdu however, it's quite hard to get there via public bus if you can't speak the language. Louisa and I did it a few years ago but we had our Chinese friend Amanda to escort us on the bus. This time though, Neil and I paid about £13 each for a tour from our hostel. A private car picked the two of us up at 7.30am and drove us to the research centre, the ticket entrance was also included and then the driver took us around the feeding areas for the pandas, which happens first thing in the morning before they all go back to their favourite pastime: sleeping. Going this early meant we missed ... read more

Hi everyone! We arrived into Chengdu train station at 5am this morning after very little sleep on the 3rd class hard sleeper from Xi'an. We took a tuk tuk from the station for 20 CYN (£2) to our hostel, luckily there were beds ready to climb straight into ? but not before having a well needed shower to get rid of the grime and extra Chinese pubes gained from unchanged sheets in the hard sleepers (yuck!!!!). We woke about 8.30am and went out to get breakfast, we found local street breakfast that Neil loved (even tried to get dinner there this evening) he had a cold spicy beef sandwich but better than that. I had a brown sugar sandwich- I didn't finish most of it- too sweet even for me! We came back to the hostel ... read more
