12/4/09 = From Beach House to Mango Bay = Easter Sunday Woke up lots of times in night itching. Not mosquitoes, not sandflies...but ants. I hate you ants of Robinson Crusoe! That was also way woke up at 7:30, itching. Got changed and went straight for breakfast. Found kitchen easy enough - couldn’t see anything when arrived in dark last night - and glad to see breakfast had already started, with plenty of options. Made cup of tea, started on cereal, then Deb came down too. Followed up ceral with toast and juice - got to make the most of these [View Full Entry]

A nice bure to sleep in
Lovely bure

11/4/09 = The Night Show at Robinson Crusoe Did the usual thing I always do when have been drinking = waking up every hour and hardly sleeping. Sleep may be best cure, but is impossible to achieve! I got up as one of first in room - v.sensibly limited alcohol yesterday and actually felt fine :) - and headed over to breakfast. Catherine was already up, so chatted to her, then Irish girls not far behind, followed by Deb. Deb feeling rough, but Diedra looked remarkably well considering...some people = so lucky with hangovers! Breakfast was bit of a disappointment. Come [View Full Entry]

Just another sunset bonfire...
Uncovering the hangi meal

10/4/09= Sunbathing, Volleyball and Drunken card games Woke up early for breakfast - won’t make the same mistake as dinner - threw some clothes on and headed straight for buffet table. Delighted to find pancakes waiting…yum :) Even better, they had fresh orange and sugar to put on them…well done Crusoe! Grabbed a stack of 3 and started the eating process. V.tasty, but also v.stodgy pancakes. Managed to squeeze a 4th in, but that well and truly finished me off. No lounging in bikini for at least 30mins. Had a quick morning chat with everyone, then headed off to receptio [View Full Entry]

8/4/09 = Snorkelling and rain in Bounty Not the good nights sleep I had hoped for. Layered up pyjamas to protect from cold, but ended up way too hot. Typical. Had to get up v.early morning to remove extra T-shirt and de-tuck from bed and then woke up naturally at 7am. Rubbish body clock. Pitch black in room because no windows at all, so had to navigate around using trusty phone again. Chilled and pottered around until 7:45, then woke Deb up for breakfast. Only a few people awake when we arrived at 8am and v.excited to assess eating options. Had [View Full Entry]

A rainy day = card games
The old Love Island set
Farewell Bounty Island

7/4/09 = Goodbye Mana Island...Bula Bounty Island Woke up annoyingly early at 7am and couldn’t get back to sleep - curse you wretched fan! Tossed and turned until 7:45, then got up and got ready for breakfast. Leaving Mana island today. Had a great time here, but didn’t feel bad about leaving because nearly all our group was doing the same. Went to hall for our last breakfast and it was another really good one…not being sarcastic, breakfasts were good. Pancakes, banana, syrup, even a nice cup of tea. Chatted and ate, then all went to beach. I wrote diary for [View Full Entry]

Goodbye school hall
Leaving on the boat
First sign of Bounty

6/4/09 = The last night in Mana Lagoon .... and also the end of Lent. No biscuit goal achieved :) Woke up at 7:30 hot and shattered. Lack of sleep = nearly created the hangover effect. Really should have gone to bed earlier. Scraped out of bed and trapsed off to breakfast = easily most exciting meal of day…hope is pancakes again. Was only me and Deb in the whole hall at first, which I was pretty impressed with to say I was one of last people up. Strolled straight up to buffet table and got first picks at everything; that [View Full Entry]

The Farewell song
The English national anthem
Farewells.

5/5/09 = The 5 island hop and a church visit. Got up at the same old early time. There’s no sleeping in at Mana…electricity cuts off at 6am (is only on from 6pm to 6am each day), which means fan cuts off, which in turn brings instant heat that only takes a couple of minutes to smother you and wake you up. Did doze for a little while afterwards, but then got up and got ready for 8am breakfast. Woke Allan and Kirtsy on way and all sat together for food, as usual. First breakfast on Mana so far - having [View Full Entry]

4/4/09 = A lazy day with Fijian dancing Wasn’t a good night’s sleep, but never is after drinking! Poor Deb was sick all night and I rolled over feeling not too hot! Why do we drink? Definitely couldn’t face breakfast…especially not a Mana style breakfast…so rolled over to try the sleep cures all problems trick. Re-opened eyes at 10am. Still feeling positively dodgy, but not sick…yeh! Deb on other hand = really not good. Had been sick all night and in some v.unfortunate places…her poor handbag took the brunt of it…oops. She definitely wasn [View Full Entry]

3/4/09 = The Luxurious Mana Lagoon Woke up spritely at 7am after a really good nights sleep. V.excited for our island hopping which starts today, with Mana Island, in the Mamanuca group. Got ready, packed up and went for breakfast at 8:45. Got the same pancakes and they were the same beautiful. Dragged bags out of room then, checked out and waited for boatman to pick us up at 8:15. 2 other German girls were waiting too, so chatted to them until he came. We all got into mini van then and an English couple also jumped in at last minute. [View Full Entry]

Then Welcome Song
Our room

2/4/09 = Another organising day! Had a bad and weirdly interrupted nights sleep. The source of the interruptions, 90% of the time, was the small toddler sleeping in the bunk bed next to me, who proceeded to cry quite loudly at hourly intervals throughout the night. That's not right! Should not be sharing rooms with random children and definitely should not be being woken up by them throughout night. Mum did her best to get her back to sleep quickly, but took at least 15minutes each time. Not happy. Woke properly at 7:30am to find both mother and child disappeared; at [View Full Entry]
