Hi Everyone! Well it was the first Thanksgiving that I actually made all myself and it actually came out a success! Surprizing I know! But I have the photographic evidence to prove it. Since I was a bit depressed on having Halloween kind of float by with only glowing watermelons to show for it I decided to go all out for Thanksgiving. And no thanksgiving is complete without turkey. Thinking it would be dangerous and impossible for me to cook a turkey myself I called all the butchers and supermarkets in wellington searching for an all ready cooked bird. No luck. So it was up to me to scour the internet for tricks, tips and general knowledge on how to roast a turkey. After feeling confident enough with my research I went off to find the ... read more

Hi Everyone! On Sunday morning I was awoken to the unmistakable sound of a kitten mewing. Thinking it was part of a random dream I was having I rolled over and tried to go back to sleep. But the mewing did not stop. I went out to our lounge and there was my flatmate Korena with the newest addition to our flat. A tiny little kitten. The kitten is a girl and she does not yet have a name. Korena has thought of many but nothing seems to suit her. I think she is beautiful. In the right light her eyes look like a gorgeous shade of purple. But mostly they look blue or greenish. I am very happy to have this kitten here in the flat, she is very cuddly and has also found that ... read more

Hello Everyone! It has been a while since my last entry which I am sorry about however I do have new pictures to post up so that is exciting. As most of you know Halloween is my second favorite holiday, Christmas being the first. I love the excitement, the orange and black decorations, the costumes, the crispness in the air, it feels almost like magic. And clearly the candy is great as well, my favorite candy being candy corn which becomes readily available around this time. Unfortunately, though New Zealand has many great things to offer and I love being here, it does not really celebrate halloween. Walking around on Halloween day there is nothing to distinguish it from any other day. I have heard that in more residential areas some kids do trick or treat ... read more

Hello Everyone, This is just a short update, I wanted to say Happy Birthday to my friend Vicki! Her birthday party was on Saturday night and Miss Vicki turned 21! She rented out the best Italian food restaurant in Wellington called IL Piccolo. It has amazing food. It was such a fun night, the food was awesome and neverending and it was cool to meet some of Vicki's family. I am so glad that I was able to share Vicki's bday with her, she is a fantastic friend and truly a very lovely person. Also I have been baby-sitting for a family for a while now, they have the sweetest 5 year old boy named William. They also have the biggest cat I have ever seen, it's name is Moostopher Key. I like Moostopher, after William ... read more

Hello Everyone, I have some very exciting ( to me) news! About 3 years ago when I was in my junior year at the art institute I was making one of my regular trips to the aquarium. I had my video camera with me as I was planning to get some footage of some jellyfish to use in a video project. I was outside the aquarium walking around the edge of Lake Michigan when I saw a duck in the water. It was near a rock trying to eat some algea off of it but the waves in the water kept sweeping the duck away from the rock. So it was paddling like mad with it's little neck outstreched bill clacking madly attempting to eat the algae. It was obviously getting irritated but it was not ... read more

Hello Everyone! On Sunday Sept 17th it was Shaun's birthday, he turned 26 and we had a great day. I made him a cake and he got some lovely presents and then we went to his parents for dinner. I have put up some pictures from that night. And also some pictures of Smudge the cat under his fabulous blanket that I knitted for him. He especially likes the tassles which he enjoys trying to eat. At the moment I have been working on my Mousin T. Cheddarworth book ( the children's book) and I am currently working on the illustrations for it now. Also Shaun and I are going to be coming to the states for Christmas! So we have been planning that, we will arrive in NYC stay for a few days and then ... read more

Hello Everyone!! I am happy to announce that I have completed the first Mousin T. Cheddarworth story. It still needs a little tweaking but at the moment I am working hard on getting the illustrations put together. Then once everything is put together how I want it I will send it off to a publisher with the blind hopes of getting it published. If it doesn't get accepted to any big publishers then I will try and send it to a small publisher and see where that goes. On a related note I am also beginning to write a collection of short stories about my time here in New Zealand. The stories will come from the present, and also when I was in New Zealand 2 years ago studying at Victoria University. I am kind of ... read more

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all your support while I was applying to Park Road Post. Unfortunately I did not make it to the interview stage, I received an email that said I need more experience and then I should apply again in January 2007. So obviously this is upsetting news but I will just keep trying at it until something happens. My next step now is to find some film experience. In other news I took Thunder Bat ( my car) to see Shaun's dad last weekend and he worked on some stuff under the hood and now ThunderBat is running better then ever! Thanks Shaun's dad! Also I have applied to get a work permit/visa and I am now waiting to hear back about that as well. I am also beginning work on my Mousin ... read more

Hi! I just have a little update on what has been going on in my life recently. A week ago my car Thunder Bat's battery died. So last weekend my boyfriend Shaun and I changed the battery and when I say Shaun and I, I mean that Shaun changed the battery and I helped by watching him. So maybe it was karma or something that I, even though I did nothing under the hood, was the one who got hurt. I accidently closed the car door on my thumb. Thankfully my thumb was not broken, unfortunately the force of the door did cut my thumb and it immediatly became swollen and bruised. It has been getting better everyday and I think by Friday it should be back to normal, although maybe a little discolored. In other ... read more

Hello Everyone, Sorry for the delay in writing this last chapter to the fabulous adventures of Beth and Emily around the North Island. It has now officially been one week since I sent in my application to Park Road Post. I of course have not heard back from them yet because they said it would take several weeks to get through all the applications, especially since they are going to acknowledge everyone of them. Which is awesome because there is nothing worse then applying for a job and never hearing anything back. I hate that! I have been a bit nervous about the whole thing because I want this job so badly. I actually dreamt last night that I had an interview and I got the job, but also in that dream I was fighting crime ... read more
