Hi Everybody!

I'm 20 years old and from Denmark. I have some free time before I start college and have decided to travel a bit.
My trip will take me to Laos, through Vietnam, Cambodia and finally China. The trip will last for one month, from the 28th of May till 29th of June 2011.

I will keep this travelling blog as updated as possible, with stories of my adventures & maybe even some pictures.
I hope you will find this entertaining and I encourage you to write me and ask about things, if you want a more thorough explanation of certain parts of the trip.

In the end I hope this trip will give me more insight as to whom I am and give me a lot of good memories.
I now look forward to some exhilarating and exciting travels

Regards,

Morten Tastum

Hello and farewell Everybody. As I wrote this I sat in Bangkok International Airport and waited for my plane. It is sad that my adventures had to end here, but it would be nice to come home to familiar people. Hopefully I will have many adventures yet to come. I would have posted this before I came home, but due to unforeseen circumstances in Bangkok, namely that I could not find any stable connection and that I ran out of power, made it impossible for me to publish the blog from there. I now sit in my boat, sailing along the Øresund strait, on my way to Sweden as I write this last paragraph and finally publishing this blog. I want to thank those that have persevered and followed my blogs through the whole time, and ... read more

Hi everybody, my travels are sadly almost at an end. I really hope you have enjoyed reading this, as I have done my best to tell about my travelling. Things to note about Xi'an. It is a very smoggy place, and you can really feel it when walking around town. This probably also resulted in me getting very sleepy all the time. So blame Xi'an and not me for the huge amount of time I spent sleeping. Other than that it's a fun city with a lot of things to offer. Anyway on to the story of my travels Day 23 This day I was picked up by my guide and we went to see some tomb areas at first, with temples and everything and afterwards to see the Terrakotta warriors. It was interesting to see ... read more

Here is the recollection of my fantastic adventures in Yangshuo. Hope you like it. Day 19 Waking up early. Too early for my phone/alarm apparently as it failed to make any attemp to wake me. So I was woken up by my guide calling me on the hotelphone and asking where I was all the while I looked at the clock and realised that I had 5 minutes to pack all my belongings, brush my teeth and forget everything about breakfast, a truly happy and calm morning for me. But fortunately I momentarily became the master of time and space and made it down, only 2 minutes late. We headed out and managed to keep to the schedule of reaching the riverarea of the town, where a large boat was waiting for me and othe passengers. ... read more

"Massive" blog today as I wrote about my stay in Hong Kong in details. My current whereabouts are now Beijing, at a hotel located very near the back entrance to the Forbidden City. So I am pretty central, but it does not matter much, as this place is enormous, and it takes a lot of time just getting anywhere on foot. I am feeling pretty proud today as I climbed the Great Wall and can now call myself a real man and a hero. Huzzah! I will try to get blogs about my stay in wonderful Yangshuo and Xi'an up tomorrow or the next day and then on the last day, the 28th of june, I will post a blog about my time in Beijing. I will write a final blog after that, after I return ... read more

Hey again, here's a new blogpost with details of my Cambodia campaign. Sorry if it's a bit short but I am trying to catch up to my more recent travelling. Hope you enjoy it anyway. I'm currently in Xi'an and will go on terracotta-spotting tomorrow. It's going to be fun. Also I made a crude map displaying where in the world I have been, where I am now and where I will go in the future. Go check it out. Day 13 Early up today as I need to get as much out of the day as possible. I was driven to the airport and took the plane to Siem Reap in Cambodia, where I was picked up by my new guide. We decided to start exploring right away and went to Angkor Thom. It was ... read more

I am very lazy. I have almost done no writing and I am several days and two countries behind schedule. I will work to make this more up to date as fast as possible. On another note, Yangshuo is a fantastic and beautiful place, well worth a visit. I have one more full day here before heading towards Beijing. There have been no real problems with the tour so far except for a storm in Siem Reap that delayed my flight a bit. But I managed to get to Bangkok in time for my transitflight to Hong Kong. Anyway here is my recollection of the trip to the Mekong Delta. Enjoy. Day 11 Farewell Saigon, I will return again soon. I set my sights on the Mekong Delta with start in the town of Cai Be. ... read more

Here is the latest news from my travels, even if they are a few days delayed. Will work on getting more up to date while in Bangkok Airport on my way to Hong Kong. So far the vacation has been great and I have a lot of fun experiencing all these new places. Hope those of you that are still reading my scarce quantity of blogs, are enjoying it. Best Regards, Morten Day 7 First day in Hoi An, a wonderful small village outside of Danang. The first thing we went to do was a visit to the tailorshop Yaly in the old quarter. Here I picked out fabric for a suit I wanted and fabric for a shirt, before I was measured. Having checked this off my to-do-list, we walked around town and saw some ... read more

Sorry for the delay in blogs. I have been quite busy lately and/or too tired to do any writing, but i plan to make up for that in the coming days. Here are the latest blog entires. The more resent ones will be posted as soon as they are done. Thank you all for your patience. Day 3 Our last day in Laos was not boring. Even though we had a plane early in the afternoon, we still managed to have a great time. We went up early in the morning and ate a nice breakfast. After this, our rented scooters arrived and we set forth on a great journey. A journey to the waterfalls of Kuang Si, located some 25k away from Luang Prabang. Off we went in thrilling speed on our very chic and ... read more

Copenhagen-Luang Prabang Day 1-2 28.05 – 30.05.2011 Day 1 This is written on the 30¬th, since we were way to tired yesterday to write anything. Travelling, clocking in at about 19 hours has been exhausting, but so far well worth it. We arrived in Bangkok airport very early in the morning, and had 3 hours of waiting ahead of us. Fortunately we found some very comfortable chairs, which served wonderfully as makeshift beds as my father found out. We then had a short flight with a small airplane to Luang Prabang Airport. After everything had cleared up with baggage and visas, we met our very friendly guide and driver, Sum and Dii for our stay in Laos. They toom us to our hotel, The Apsara in LP, with a view of the Kang river. We had ... read more

Hi Everybody, This is my first of hopefully many posts. There is about 13 hours until I should be airborne and on my way to Bangkok Airport. I will arrive there tomorrow, wait a few hours and continue my travels towards Luang Prabang. Here I will stay at a hotel until the next day, where I will head for Hanoi. Right now I feel both excited and nervous, but this will hopefully subside a bit once I am on my way. Then there will be no going back. As if I wanted to :) So in short; my bags are (nearly) packed, I'm (sorta) ready to go. I will miss Denmark a lot, my friends and family too. But I look forward to this adventure, and what it may bring of new discoveries. This first week ... read more
