- From: Arriverdici Italy
Wow. It sounds like you both had an amazing trip! The pictures are beautiful. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on what it was like to see a "room full of Jackson Pollack's work" and then see the statue of David or something by Botticelli. I know they are two totally different types of art- but are they even comparible in any way?

Otzi - From: Spectaculissimo
Ben would be so thrilled to hear about your visit to see Otzi. We recently watched a documentary about him and he was fascinated. He's been trying to make arrowheads ever since and still keeps talking about what caused Otzi's ultimate demise. Hope you took pictures. I'm glad you're having a great trip. It sounds wonderful.

getting caught up - From: Hiking, a really big David, and more
Have caught up on blog reads now. Windie, my maternal grandmother always called me monkey...could we be distantly related? I don't think I have Italian heritage...although I do talk with my hands. The hikes, the food, and the farms sound fab! I imagine the countryside is just beautiful. Is all the pasta freshly made prior to serving? I wish you could see bearing fruit trees there, but I am sure it is too early. Gotta go get organized.--Rachel

Tired in and (of) Tennessee - From: More from Genoa
Okay, enough with the stupendous art, wonderful food, beautiful countryside. Seriously, sounds like a trip of a lifetime. Say hello to Michelangelo, Bernini, Da Vinci, and Titian for me. The girl child and I travel to the far country of Asheville, N.C. for the weekend with 10 (count them - 10) junior highers. Now don't tell me we don't know how to have fun. We do rejoice at the advent of spring break next week. Bring back some Genoa salami, a fav of the guys in the house. If I am not mistaken, there is a footprint of Christ set in stone in the cemetary at San Lorenzo?? Good to hear from ya, Vinsonio the tired

Snowing all over the world - From: It takes a village called Paterno
We thought we would tanut you with the fact that it has snowed here twice since you left. However, it sounds like what you saw was gorgeous. Besides our snow was puny - AND IT WASN'T IN ITALY! I must learn more about the "monkey" people. If this is a common event that you experience while there, this will be a sign that Mark and I must travel to Italy. It sounds like you're having a wonderful time. I'm so glad - although a wee bit jealous!

So good to hear from you guys! - From: It takes a village called Paterno
Life is Beautiful! What a wonderful experience. I am looking forward to following along on your trip through Italia! Susan, as a girl growing up somehow I did get to shovel poop and do all the work outside, but even then I thought...well, I get to be outside! and it beats dishes. Jim, I could just see you two there with the tea and the good conversation. Congrats on making this trip and time in your lives happen for you. A dream made true! Enjoy! Enjoy-Lori

Viva Gelato! - From: Into the Wild (sort of)
As it's been said, when in Rome, do as those pesky Romans do. And apparently they (or their descendants) eat tons of gelato! Now wouldn't the world be a better place if we all ate some gelato every day? VIVA GELATO! P.S. Hail to the Mighty Silverchin, who could crush the tiny Italian lift in his bare hands!!!

Sounds like you're having a wonderful time; wish we were there with you to explore the towns, take in the history, and enjoy the pasta, limoncello, gelato, and espresso - yum! I just returned from LA last night which was not nearly so interesting (but was ok). I look forward to hearing more and seeing pics!

Dear Squirrel, Yep, am letting you plan my next vacation, for sure! P.A. turned me on to this and I've been avidly following your exploits. Sorry so late in writing-- it's been crazy here in NashVegas. Come see me when you've recovered from your nomadic spree! Sorry I missed you after you "retired"-- hope I see you soon! I think my new travel name will be "Monkey"-- whatcha think? Or does it have to be something more local?

torn between two hoodoos - From: Vote for your favorite Hoodoo
Mr. Blockhead and Frank Lloyd Flintstone are fighting for my heart. I'm sure Gordon will understand :). Both are very appealing. I am going to stick with the tie because I'm tired of making choices. Just got home last night from Illinois/Missouri (we took Gordon's mom) and before that it was Georgia and NC. I spent 19 days this month out of town. If Gordon counts the last six weeks, he can include SC in the list. I'm going to work now, and hope to make no decisions today.--Rachel

My favorite photo is Stands wth Fist, although i do like Mr. Blockhead a great deal. I'll give some thought to the Chocolate Cliffs; I think I can nail it. Since I recently produced a masterful wedding cake, I'm impressed with my own abilities these days.

HOODOOS - From: Vote for your favorite Hoodoo
Heart of Stone looks like a pig with only a back leg. Frank Lloyd Flintstone is way cool, but Stands With Fist made me laugh out loud, and I love the colors, so it gets my vote. Have loved all your pictures, thanks for letting me travel vicariously.

Coffee in Autumn - From: Synchronicity in Utah
Autumn is, at least, showing signs of arrival in Knoxville. We had a couple of very cool days this week. The weekend has been beautiful with sunny blue skies, daytime temps in the 70s, and cool evenings - 40s. While we have no Butch & Sundance paraphanalia, we will offer you coffe in our patio when you return to Knoxville.
