Our 61/2 week expedition to Portugal started when we left Birmingham at 7.40 and had a smooth trip to Dover to catch the Sea France ferry to Calais. We chose this route to France not because it was necessarily the most convenient but by far the cheapest, £85 return for the campervan and us. It was the first time we had crossed the channel by ferry since the tunnel was available and found it very relaxing, although the sea was calm! There followed an afternoon’s driving on the French motorways. The Morello performed very well maintaining the speed limit of 130km/hour most of the time although I did have to change down on some of the hills. We spent the night 30 km south west of Rouen on an excellent campsite outside a typical Brittany village ... read more

Some friends of ours, Wal and Daph Pearce, were spending the week at the Caravan Club site situated on the Blenheim Palace Estate. Knowing that they were very interested in seeing what we had chosen and needing a short familiarisation trip, we joined them and had a delightful couple of days seeing an area of England that I had driven by many times but never visited. We christened it with a bottle of champagne kindly donated by ... read more

A two hour lesson on the many systems (interrupted by family and neighbours who were keen to see our new acquisition) was followed by the formal key handing over ceremony. Rex then dashed off to catch his train back to Devon and we were left hoping we could remember everything that he told us - time will tell. What we did know was at first glance it appeared to be everything we hoped it would be and our choice of vehicle and interior colours seemed to be a success.... read more

We have been tent campers all our lives, but during a trip to New Zealand in 2006 we hired a motorhome to tour the Southern Alps. We soon realised that for us this would be the ideal form of transport and accommodation for the extensive European travelling we intend to do during our retirement. When we got home to the U.K., we visited an exhibition to find out what was on offer and after a fair amount of soul searching we settled on a Murvi Morello based on the latest model Fiat Ducato. Why did we choose a Morello? It soon became apparent that from the myriad of choices we had, there were two main considerations. Firstly size and secondly practicability. The Morello is a panel van conversion and we preferred this to coach built type ... read more
