Iloilo is my first and last love
I was born and nurtured the Ilonggo way- a gift that I hope I too could give to my kids, but alas, I am rearing them outside the country. Nevertheless, I try to give them a semi-Ilonggo lifestyle. I like to introduce Pinoy delicacies especially Ilonggo foods to them- they like it! I buy Barquillos, Pinasugbo, Puto, Kutsinta( when I was there, there was this older lady who sold the best kutchinta in Central Market, is she still there?), Biscocho Haus ( extremely tasty), Panaderia de Molo ( oh...the memories of our Merienda Time with la familia many years ago !), Batchoy, etc... When one goes to Central Market and walk along Aldeguer Street there are so many snacks to buy before you hop on to those jeepneys which were beautifully decorated and also had stereos . Iloilo is still one of the best places to live or visit. People are sweet and kind but will not hesitate to give you a piece of their mind if you disrespect them or their place. It is one place which will take you back in time. I love going to the Duenas Cathedral and also the Barotaque Cathedral because my great-great grandfather Padre Julian Yturriaga was instrumental in it's construction. I love the feeling when I walk near the altar and imagine him giving his sermon to the townsfolks. I love Jaro Cathedral and San Jose Church and the rest of the cathedrals around the area. What a wonderful way to meditate... The beauty of Iloilo will probably stay for as long as it's people's goodness remain. In behalf of those living outside the country, I guess it is fair to say , Daku guid ang amon kahidlaw sa matahum nga Iloilo....gusto ko na mag bakasyon kag mag-paayaw sang manamit nga mga pag-kaon!!!

thanks for visiting our city. you missed eating at Roberto's along Calle Real (near Buho bakery), they serve the best King & Queen siopao, Lomi in town (equivalent to Ma Mun Lok in Manila). hope you can also try eating there some time.
