Back Home I’m glad you enjoyed the blog. Maybe they’ll help when you plan your future travels. We hope for another trip next year, but I think two months on the road will be enough next time.
Sorry to hear about your RV! Gallup NM is in the poorest county in America. I know this because our best man at our wedding Dan Berg worked at a hospital on an indian reservation in Gallop for 4 years to pay off his medical school loans. I remember visiting Hoover Dam on a family trip many years ago, but I have never seen the crater or the petrified "forest" which are both very cool! Danny has seen the crater on a trip with his family growing up.
RV Trouble Gallup looks like it’s a poor area, a lot of Native Americans walking about and they seem to be impoverished. I remember Dan, I hope he is well. We didn’t see much in Gallup, but the RV repair shop was great.
Monterey Co It is an amazing place and we enjoyed our time here. I wanted to see a couple more points of interest while there, but ran out of time and energy. I try to limit what I do on the day before we leave so I'm fresh on the road.
Graffiti I think all the graffiti makes you wonder just how "Abandoned" the buildings are. Too bad such prime real estate is being wasted. Makes me want to read the book Cannery Row. Did you read it?
Very interesting, I have never seen the hearst castle. The dining room looks just like the one from the Harry Potter movies, cool fun fact! The California coast is beautiful!
nice It does look like Harry Potter's dining room. A little too opulent and ornate for my taste, but I guess when money is no object you can be as over the top as you feel like! Looks like a fun place to visit.
I've been to Southern Cal but have never seen these sites, very interesting trees and beautiful mountains. I have to say that the selfie picture of Mihyon and Mike in the tram is so funny and cute, it is priceless and might be my favorite picture yet!!! Are you going to see the redwood forest or go to Napa? I love the San Francisco area and would live there if I could have convinced Danny to move there but he refuses to move to California. It is also too expensive and we would probably still be renting with unpaid student loans in the bank!
cave If you have never been to Ruby Falls in Chattanooga TN, you should go. They have a cave formation like this with a waterfall inside the caves. It was pretty cool too. Good idea to slow your roll, I mean you are retired now. :)
I love seeing y'all adventuring!! All the pictures are amazing and you guys look like you're having a wonderful time :) I can hear you narrating these as I read them, Dad. Love to see you get the opportunity to write about your adventures! :)
Roswell I think I will put that on my bucket list! I am one of the crazy people who do believe in UFO's. Haven't seen evidence of it, but just think in this huge universe we can't be it.
During our 40 year career in the Air Force (both Military and Civil Service) we traveled around the world and had an opportunity to live several years in Europe and many states in the US. This August Mike retired for the second and last time so we are ready to embark on RV trips unconstrained by time and schedule. Most of our travels in the US so far have been quick trips, except summer of 2013 when completed our first cross-country RV trip starting in Williamsburg Va through Utah's National Parks, Grand Canyon AZ, NM, TX, Ok, etc... On August 17th we left Columbus Ohio to start our 40th ann... full info
