Thoughts We've been thinking about you and your Mom all week, so it was great to hear what you've been doing. The big question is... did she have a deep-fried Mars bar???? We loved reading about our visit, too. We have such wonderful memories of the whirlwind weekend. Let us know when your e-mail is working again.
Burns Night Here in Punta Gorda, Florida they have a Burns Night celebration every year with lots of poetry, singing and haggis. No drinking because this year it was held in a church. We did not attend this year, but we did two years ago and Uncle Terry tried the haggis (I did not)
faucets Great blog. I'm trying this again because it didn't seem to add the first time. Those faucets intrigue me. In France, I've seen the knobs reversed for hot and cold often but never two faucets. Could do a whole study on that one, with time (old farm house, re: Chris) and place.
Looking forward to the next installment.
faucets Melissa,
Great blog. I am particularly intrigued with the faucets. Have you seem them in other places? In France, I have seen the knobs reversed for hot and cold, but always coming out one faucet. Could do a whole study on that one?
Sounds great! Hi Melissa, I can't wait to get to Edinburgh. You'll have to explore everything as fast as possible and find great places to go. I think I'll try the museum but skip the costumes. Have you found the deep fried mars bars yet?
The Sink Almost forgot - you have actually seen and used a sink before, like the one you describe with a separate hot and cold tap: Grandma and Grandpa's house on the farm! The bathroom sink had a tap for hot and a tap for cold - no mixing. That sink has been replaced, though I'm not sure at this point how long ago that was. Maybe you were too little to remember. Anyways, just thought I would throw that bit of trivia out there!
Hey! Hey Melissa,
Great to se eyou are doing well! Your room looks so cute and that castle makes my mouth water...lol. it looks beautiful! Do they all speak English or a British form of it over there? How do you get around town? Mostly walk? Bus? What is the most delicious food you've had? Hope to hear from you soon, have fun!
Jenna
Wow! Wow Melissa, sounds like things are going really well! Edinburgh sounds awesome. How's the weather been so far? Also, I'm sad (though not surprised in the least) that only Americans are wandering around in kilts. Good luck with your classes and finding cool pubs!
I'm a junior at the University of Connecticut spending Spring '07 in Edinburgh, Scotland at the University of Edinburgh.
