youth hostels I've been to a youth hostel before in France, and my memory of it is pretty much what you described - pretty scary. I didn't want to mention that before you left, hoping that your experience would be better, but I'm glad you're in a hotel instead, especially since you're by yourself.
And remember, no going out at night by yourself to meet strange boys. I may have already saved your life once, and I'm not there to do it again. :)
I hope you're having fun. It must be kind of lonely right now, but I'm sure you'll have a great trip once you settle in. We're all thinking about you!
