Hola McCraes! Glad to hear the trip is going well for the both of you! I also thoroughly enjoyed Copacabana, it was so relaxed and yes also had an unordinate amount of rastafarians, lol. You will have to let me know how Arequipa goes, myself and a few others are heading there next weekend and would love some helpful tips on hostals, restaurants or sites. Apparently the volcanoe ruins and canyons about 3 hours outside of Arequipa are amazing to see, if you have the time and energy they are highly recommended. Anyway, enjoy the balance of your trip and have a safe trip back to Canada! Hasta luego!
Sounds wonderful...I feel like I am there with you. Whoever is writing...Anne or Laura...did you ever consider a career in travel writing? Enjoy Arequipa...you are in store for a real treat!!

Reliving Peru through your eyes... Hi L/A,
Trip sounds wonderful...brings back great memories of my Peru trip some 30+ years ago. Went to the same places...Iquitos, where the kids learn to swim before they walk, Cusco, where I also bumped into a guy (whose name I was give in Toronto to call) and there he was.. right in the market. I had to ask him a lot of questions before I would believe it was really the person I was suspost to look up...he took us to great places. Then, on to Machu Picchu, where I stayed overnight!! Lima is also beautiful where we met some really lovely people who lived in Mila Flores. But also...there was an attempt on the President's life...he was shot but not killed...yikes!! Do they still have the taxi cabs that 'collect' people on the streets and you just jump in with everyone else and pay as you go?? If you have not been to Lima...then try to find a wonderful "little" museum where they have special rooms showing...medical procedures like craniotomies and C-sections for baby deliveries etc. carved in their pottery...and we think we discovered this stuff in our era!! If you get there be sure to visit "every" room...especially the erotic room...all carved on pottery!!!
The beach at Lime is beautiful... I remember driving through some big hills on the outskirts of the city, and wow...there was the beach with a huge sunset!! I just happened to have purchased some 'rose tinted sun glasses' at the market so I must say it was the best sunset (albeit enhanced) I have ever seen.
Continue to have fun and be sure to look for that museum right in the heart of Lima!!
Cheers,
Aunt Jan
Yuk Did you REALLY have to talk about a hissing snake..almost thru out the computer!! I hope you are not planning any further jungle excursions and I am sure that you both know I want to hear almost all of your stories when you return but please remove the snake episode!! Be safe. Mom arrived at Benita's cottage safely and she read my email advising that you guys had returned from the Amazon. Be safe.

Be safe. The two of you will have a great trip. I cannot wait to check in and hear about your experiences..be safe and check in as often as possible.
