amazing I finally got the chance to sit down and catch up on your blog and the whole things sounds amazing. I'm so glad you are passing these stories along. From a few posts back, I want to hear the bathroom story. I think you might need a public telling of it. Can't wait to hear about your next adventure.
You know, when I went to Fushimia Inari, I thought of how it'd be nice to walk through it with someone else also. Haha. I got lost there when I went, and spent several hours wandering around trying to find the entrance again.
Were you planning on going there, or did you go on my suggestion?

I want there to be a monkey petting place here in NJ. And what you said about monkeys having conscious thoughts made me really excited. I hope they one day learn how to understand monkeys and learn what they think. (I bet they think humans are pretty awful creatures, because we're always using up resources and stuff)
Mark,
i'm having so much fun (and only a little trouble) reading your entries. also, i'm glad to see your facial hair is intact. remind me to ask you about the bathroom when you get back! the suspense is killing me.
can't wait to read more!
love alanna
Rutgers Imperial Garden Party I was thinking that maybe this could turn into a great Jersey-mixed-up event, like instead of haikus we could do writing acronyms. and instead of sake.... use your imagination :)
I like your cute movie reference titles I will be in China officially on the 20th. I know that's a long time from your arrival time, so chances are, you won't want to wait around in Beijing. Too bad you're gonna be gone by the time I go to the beer festival in Qingdao (though, you did go to one in Israel already).
Enjoy the rest of Japan! If you haven't left Kyoto yet, I strongly suggest for you to take a train out to the Fushimia Inari Temple. Look it up on wikipedia, it's amazingly gorgeous.
Wow! I am sooooooooooooo impressed - you are really amazing and to think this is only the beginning! Wow! I can't wait for the next episode and YES I did read it to the end - but you don't have to buy me a present - just show me all the pictures when you come home. Love ya, Aunt Ri
comment I had no idea you kept a travel blog! But your entry on Mt. Fuji is a great read. Yes, I did finish it, but you don't have to get me a present, just try to remain in Beijing until I get there (try! try very hard!!).
I can't believe you stayed in a capsule hotel! You must tell me about it in detail, if you can remember much besides sleeping. Also, I want to know about the Japanese styled bathroom, but I'm sure it's like the Chinese styled ones (aka, literally a shithole in the ground :-D)
isn't that where they make film? can't believe you gypped us on the Japanese bathroom story. Mein Kampf: Fuji sounds like quite an experience, so keep your chin up, and keep writing

marky-son... hey buddy-
i hope your travels are going well. i heard from mom that you left a msg at home, but i didnt hear anything about a visit to the arcade parlors... you better get on that! i bet by now you are knee deep in sushi and wondering why you have never eaten this wonderful delicacy before. or maybe by now you've decided to stay in japan, abandoning china and india, to accept a position as diaper boy for the national sumo champion. in any event, i hope you having a sick time and enjoying everything to its extent.
be safe. love you.

This is so exciting! You must have been thinking to yourself: I am getting lost in Japan! If there's anywhere to get lost, it must be Japan!
That's what I would have been thinking. Also, please post pictures. Also, tell me about your meals! I love japanese food!
Jealous but happy for you,
