The Grand Prix was a 4 day affair, the first day there wasn’t that much actual racing happening but it was just a case of scoping out the lie of the land and working out the best spots to watch there wasn’t much F1 action but it was still a great day of various cars driving around the track. It wasn’t until day 2 that we got to see some F1 action, there were two practice sessions, such was the proximity of the hostel to the track that the first one woke us up, as we had consumed too much beer the evening prior! We made it down for the second one however and were lucky enough to see Räikkönen spin off!! The noise from the F1 cars was just deafening just incredible the difference between ... read more

G'day one and all, Firstly Happy New Year I trust you all had a good Christmas & New Year. Sorry it's taken so long to write. Any way last time I wrote to you I was on the Gold Coast, from there I caught a flight down here to Melbourne. I had a reservation at the same hostel as Camilla was staying at. However instead of arriving at about 2pm as planned lovely Tiger had cancelled my flight so I had to get on the later flight so I managed to arrive at the hostel about 2am instead!! I managed to get a bus to Southern Cross Station and from there I jumped in a cab to the Pint on Punt. I got out of the taxi and there were a few people hanging around outside ... read more

G’day G’day, Well I thought it was about time I wrote to everyone. It’s now drawing near to Christmas and about time for me to extend my visa as I have now finished working at the meatworks which I needed to do in order to qualify for a 2nd visa. I’m now on the Gold Coast staying at a friend’s house and eating all his food and drinking all his beer!! Rocking Rocky didn’t turn out to be as bad as I’d expected... I met some awesome people in the hostel and made some great friends. I also managed to go to Great Keppel Island which is beautiful - if not expensive. But worth it. In fact I liked it so much I went twice. I had two four day weekends so I used them to ... read more

Australia (ten) Hello one and all, I realised the other day that I haven't sent an email to you since May and now it's like October!! And yes I'm still alive believe it or now!! Well as you may or may not remember I had arrived in Cairns and I managed to score myself a wicked job working for a guy called Keith who is a Pom - best way to be if you ask me!! The job was on the lagoon in Cairns which was a big swimming pool located in the centre of Cairns. There I worked initially on a 5 day basis starting at lunch time. This was a slight problem financially but after a few weeks I was able to up my hours. As I grew to know Keith and his ... read more

Hello Everybody, Still having an amazing time travelling up the coast... When I last emailed you I was in an Internet cafe which was also a backpacker travel agent. We then ended up booking a self drive tour 3 days 2 nights on Fraser Island which is the largest sand island in the world. So we then got in the car and drove to Rainbow Beach. Rainbow beach was a really small town with a population of about 1000, probably half of which are backpackers. When we arrived we parked along the road with all the hostels and cooked up some dinner before going into the hostel where we would be staying in a couple of nights and having a couple of drinks, our fraser tour came with 2 nights in a hostel included. The next ... read more

Hello, In case you were worried ... yes I'm still having a great time... We finally made it to a big city... Brisbane, well not really a huge city by the standards of some of the places we've seen but on an Australian scale it's big. 3rd biggest in Australia I believe and the capital of Queensland (The whole state has a population of about 4.25 million) We arrived and came off the motorway right in the centre of the city and had a bit of fun finding somewhere to park. But we eventually did and went and found the information office and found out what was what then we went and bought some lunch and jumped back into the car and headed over the river to the Beach! Brisbane has a fake beach with sand ... read more

Hello everyone, After I left the Internet cafe in Byron I headed back to the beach where I met John and Cam and there we saw a really stunning sunset while sitting on the beach. We then cooked some dinner and went and saw Spiderman 3, which included a lot of heckling from a large group of kids which did get really annoying!! but I think I would be more annoyed if the film had been better than it was! The next morning we were rather rudely awoken at about 630 by a very rude policeman moving us on from where we had parked. We were surprised by this as we didn't think we were breaking any rules. So we got up and went and found a coffee and some breakfast before returning to the beach ... read more

Hello Everybody! We'll we have now left Sydney... We're in Coffs Harbour at the moment which is really nice. However the first weeks weather has not gone to plan! it feels a bit like we're on holiday in Wales not New South Wales! anyway... We left Sydney about 12ish on Monday and drove for a couple of hours to Newcastle. Our first stop was park on the out skirts. In this park we saw lots of Koalas and turned up at feeding time so we saw them doing something other than sleeping!! They are the cutest little animals though, i think we all wanted to take a forth member for the road trip with us :) We then headed into the town and went to the tourist information centre and the rain was falling... So we ... read more

Hello Hello, About time I write once more before I head off into he depths of the North East of Australia! sill having an amazing time here! I'm still working away at Altium where I have been for the last few months but I leave there on the 20 April for out trip to Cairns. Well before all that here are a few highlights of my last month in Sydney There always seems to be something going on in Sydney and one Saturday a few weeks ago there was the Sydney Mardis Gras Parade. Having never seen anything like this I thought I'd have a look. so I headed to Manly and waited for the ferry - and I have never seen so many people waiting for the ferry!
