Home Sweet Home Welcome back. I look forward to this summer when you can demonstrate all the Chinese you learned. How much did your suitcase weigh on the trip home? Is going to China a good way to lose weight or gain it? And pictures, we hope you took way too many so we can see them all.
Best, Biff
Stranger than Fiction? Welcome Home. I've been tracking your itinerary over dinner each evening as we've been eating in the kitchen and it's posted on the bulletin board there. How stranger than fiction to realize you will arrive (or by now have arrived) in LA before you left China! Hope you are returning in good health and look forward to hearing all about the trip at Christmas.
So glad to hear from you! Hi Margi and John, so glad to hear from you and that you are on way home. Hope you pick this up; easier than going to my e-mail account online. We had a nice birthday celebration for John today with both girls home for 3 hours. :( Joy slipped a nap in. Lynn has her wheels, so is happy! Talk to you soon, after you get over jet lag, that is! Hope to go out in kayak again tomorrow. Love, Ruth
Where are you little Pooh? 6 days and we haven't heard a word; guess you haven't had time or no where to get online. I imagine you have been on your cruise on the Yangtze River and are in Shanghai now, preparing to come home soon on the 7th. Hope you can write before you leave. We are fine here. Praying for you as you travel back to the States!
Hey Margaret...my first blog here..you must have had one long plane ride!! What are you eating there? Is there much color in the scenery? flowers? Hi to Ruth-(if you're reading this!) Love, Becky
Yaking it up! Yaks dancing; Margi dancing; what a picture! Glad you got right into the "swing" of things in Tibet. :) Glad you got to see a school and a home. Sorry about your bronchitis and John's altitude sickness; hope they are things of the past. Guess you are looking forward to the cruise. Everybody fine here, except for Lynn's car which is in the shop; died and hopefully is fixable! :(
Hi Margi
Just picked up your blog today(Sunday afternnoon).
I am green with envy. Sounds like a fantastic experience that was well planned. Can't wait to get a personal detail when you get back. You are missing, however, the spectacular fall display.
Kuzu-debo-yin-be? Lhasa for "How are you?" Me shi means, "I don't understand", in Chinese, and, of couse, "nihao", hello. I read this stuff in journal blogs of a traveler to Tibet; he is into all the monk stuff. I looked at the blog photo site as well. You find all this at the general website, not at your individual one. Back to mundane housecleaning. Your blogs perk me up from my ordinary life here. :) Enjoy the extraordinary trip you are on!
Putting on the Ritz Glitzy, ritzy, ditzy, Star Dumpling, you don't have to try all 18 types, ya know :0)
The glitzy is for the gold bowl sighting, the ritzy for jet setting and fancy hotels, the ditzy, well.... and the rest you know. Wilma hit Boston with rain today; collided with a Nor' Easter. Flooding in Key West, etc. Take care; you're in our prayers. Encountered any "squat" pots yet? Hi to John. All for now!
Elevation Drink Water, water, water essential to high altitude. Maybe you can learn how to make all those different dumplings so we can have a dumpling picnic next year at camp. In fact now, I'm counting on it.
hi from pawling! Hi John and Margi! great to 'hear' from you and know that you're safe and sound, and pretty comfy judging from the last posting, Margi...
are the links you speak of in the geography and flag or are there more?

The warriors Hello, I bet the soldiers were a sight to see! Glad to hear everyone is getting along and the show should be awesome, bet it beats broadway! Keep us posted.
Glad to hear you made it! Glad to hear you are there and are being spoiled! Remember we've already fed you tofu and you liked it! :) We just got back from the house, Ben took me hiking on the appalacian trail and the Tia had a fabulous time running the lengths of the soccer field. The plants are still alive, although I think I scared one timid 14yr old when he came to water, let's just say a head full of hair dye and clothing of a white towel. yikes.
Looking forward to more blogs-
Ben and Julie
Ni Hao! The West Coast team just wanted to check in and say hi. We were anxiously awaiting your 1st blog from China! Glad to hear you're living in the lap of luxury. Make sure to eat some 'ma po to fu' while you're there, mmm mmm. Will wants to know how John is reacting to the tofu. Try some fish flavored eggplant, too. Not to worry as it's not actually fish flavored, the name's just to fool the tourists :). xoxoxo
Are you speaking Chinese yet? Have you ridden a rickshaw? Glad to hear from you;glad you got to rest and go in the pool and eat new things.Have fun traveling to Xian and seeing the terra cotta soldiers!Cold wave finally arrived here; 38 tomorrow a.m.!Brrr!No more kayaking for awhile. Don't steal the robe!:)
living the high life i remember lynn's stories of traveling in china...sounds like you are having a wonderful time...from one ugly american to another...peace out!!!
Safe arrival? Hope the weary travelers has arrived safely in China and have had a chance to rest up. Hope that the flights went smoothly. What an adventure!

Bon Voyage Like most highly anticipated events (Christmas, weddings, performances)your trip will last only a fraction of the time you've been planning for it and imagining it. I hope this blogging thing becomes secondary to the trip itself and works like a journal to help you focus on what's happening where you are at a particular moment and, of course, a record of where you've been. I guess the advantage over letters or postcards, is that the author gets to keep a copy! Wishing you a safe journey and a good sleep.
Up, up and away in one more day! Crackers, Tums, breath mints, brush ups, for the close proximity on the plane and on the bus and boat. Bet you will become good friends with the other 22 people on the tour; you'll feel like a family of Americans experiencing everything together. Sleep; don't stay up doing stuff tomorrow night; water bottle; stay hydrated.
I am from New York state and work as an archivist at a private school. My husband and I are traveling in China with 24 alumni from four different colleges - Bowdoin, Colby, Bates and Hamilton - for three weeks from the middle of October through the first week in November.... full info
