Geo: 40.7372, -114.037Well we didnt make Reno as planned, but this is just fine. The hotel is not much to look at from the outside, but it was very spacious inside. We dropped off our luggage and headed out to investigate which casino we would be eating at. We drove past 5 of them and Naomi choose the Peppermill Casino. We saw a menu before entering the restaurant area, but after one look at the buffet, decided on the buffett. The price for the buffett was $18 however! So I made sure I got my money's worth. The food was alright. The salad bar was very good as well as the mash potatoes (Naomi and I both liked them). The rest of the food was a little bland. After eating we stopped and looked around a ... read more

Geo: 40.7595, -111.888We drove along I15, stopping for lunch to go at Burger King in Pocatello, Idaho. We also made a short stop in Fort Hall to look inside the Native American shop for the Shoshone-Bannock tribe. Unfortunately, they didnt have anything we liked. We then headed to Salt Lake City and drove around the city. We stopped along the Great Salt Lake at a view stop area to take some pics. Then we headed on down the road along I80.... read more

Geo: 43.8261, -111.783We got to Yellowstone Bear World about 5 minutes before they opened. The cost to get in was about $28, then another $90 for a guided truck tour where you feed the bears and elk and deer and to feed the baby bear cubs. The tour was not worth the price, but the baby feeding was cool. We drove through the park in my car before the guided tour and bottle feeding. We left Yellowstone Bear World about noon.... read more

Geo: 43.8261, -111.783We arrived in Rexburg, Idaho about 8 am. We drove through town and stopped at a JB's restaurant to have a wonderful breakfast. We then headed 5 miles south of town to visit Yellowstone Bear World (although Yellowstone is more than 2 hours away!)... read more

Geo: 44.6622, -111.103I was right! 4:30 am does arrive too early after a short nights rest! I got us on the road, after a little nagging at Naomi who was trying to work on responding to people who are interested in her website. We headed through the park to Mammoth Hot Springs and then to Madison Junction and finally through West Yellowstone. I expected to see some moose and/or elk, but only elk were in Elk Park along the road in the morning fog. The rest of the way was uneventful. We left the park not seeing one bear or one wolf or one moose! We then headed to Rexburg, Idaho.... read more

Geo: 45.0319, -110.705As Naomi was driving back to Mammoth, I spotted a pair of coyotes in the meadows. We pulled over to take some pictures of them. After getting back to the hotel, Naomi wasnt in the mood to eat out but I still wanted to try some of the local faire. So she texted me a Subway order (the only franchise restaurant in town) while I went to a place suggested by the hotel clerk called the Town Cafe. The cafe sat in the back of a gift shop and it was an old diner. All 10 tables/booths were full so I sat at the L-shape counter. I ordered a Club sandwich with fries at 8:10. By 8:40 I noticed the time (I was playing games on my phone and texting Naomi about the interesting ... read more

Geo: 44.9163, -110.417As we were traveling to Tower Roosevelt Falls, we were stopped by a small group of buffalo (Tatanka!)! They had come off the hillside and then began to walk towards our car! OMG!!! They headed in single file straight for the car and turned only at the last minute! I thought for sure that they were going to go over my car! Naomi and I had our camera going. I thought I had pushed the movie mode and it wasnt until we got to the falls did I see that I had not done so! What a miss! It was so cool to see these creatures walking toward you with a look that totally intimmidated me! By the time we got to the falls, the sun was back out. Afterwards, Naomi drove us to ... read more

Geo: 44.736, -110.493I wanted to show Naomi the two major waterfalls in the park. As we headed out about 12:30 the sky became clouded. As we got into Mammoth Hot Springs to pick up some water at the general store, gusty winds began to blow. The door to the store was open and a very strong gust blew in and toppled some wine bottles onto the floor. Luckily, they didnt break. We got back to the car just in time before the clouds let go! We drove down to Canyon Junction to have a late lunch. After waiting about 20 minutes we were able to eat a moderately good meal at a reasonable price. By the time we finished, it had started to clear up outside.... read more

Geo: 45.0319, -110.705After getting up at 6 am, we headed to eat breakfast at the same restaurant that we had left due to its high prices. While eating at Outlaws the night before, our waitress, Stormy, told us that the restaurant had a great inexpensive breakfast buffet. After eating, we still had an hour, so we went back to the hotel for a bit. The weather was a little chilly but no rain clouds. We got geared up for the trip. Naomi wore a wet suit, but since I was going to be just going along for the ride, I wore just the life jacket. We rafted with a family of 5. It was great! Naomi and I had a great time! Afterwards we headed back to the hotel to shower and change into dry clothes. ... read more
