Before you go to China be prepared for some new smells. Remember that the green “you can walk” light is only a suggestion. Bring toilet paper with you all of the time; think of it as your passport. Forget about the western toilet. When toilets don't have doors its not a mistake. If you think your getting out of sight by taking the one at the end your not because everyone else thinks the same thing. You will not only be seen but also walked in on several times. On your trip you'll notice that a lot of men regurgitate everything inside their throat and spit it out as loudly as they can. There are always bumps along the road while your travelling and my first bump happened as soon as I got off the plane at the Narita airport. Tomo was nowhere to be found and after paging him and waiting for two hours I was ready to make a move. I met a great guy on the airplane named Paul who gave me a name of a hostel in downtown Tokyo named Kimi Ryokan. On Paul's way out of the airport he said "You said that your adventure begins here and so it has. It wouldn't be an adventure if everything went smoothly." I may not be flying to Asia until the 19th of July but my journey has begun as far as I'm concerned. I had been training for the Sinister 7 Ultramarathon since January, 2009. I don't follow a very rigid training schedule and I always say that I'm very "savage" in my ways. After six months of pummelling my body on the roads and trails I was more than ready to run the race. I was tired of training alone and the anticipation was unbearable. For those who don't know, the Sinister 7 isn't just any race. I think that it is one of the hardest ultramarathons in Canada and maybe North America.
