Bath night You were posh - all we had was the traditional tin bath in front of the range!
Now we are on our way to the large sand dunes at Swakopsmund. I think a little sand boarding needs to be done...
View from the loo! The instructions given for those occasions when someone walked in fromt of the loo were: Take two pieces of loo paper and put them over your eyes!
Have fallen in love with guinea fowl and shall be bringing some back with me.
Bathnight Good to hear from you, it all sounds terrific. Bathnight sounds interesting - it was always like that when I was a child apart of course from the location. But el-fresco in a tin slipper bath was the norm. As you say, basic but effective. Love, John
Happy New Year Liz! So, if the people on the river could see you bathing, does this mean the people traveling with you could see you?
Your adventures sound very funny! I am glad you are having such a good time! Were you awake to welcome in the New Year?
Wish I wasn't here Happy New Year Liz!
Your blog notifications have been going to my UK email address so I've only just found them and read your blogs. Sounds like you are having the great adventure that you should be. Even the New Year celebration has failed to stop me feeling cold, tired and totally flat upon my return to the UK. I knew that it would be hard and the only way I can imagine to keep myself sane will be plotting my long term escape in my spare moments.
Enjoy your journey to the full and keep us informed of ewhat you find.

I've just caught up with you...... Glad you're doing something a little more up my street, although I think I would have killed those baboons. NO-ONE touches my red wine Grrrr !!
...although the mango shakes sound delicious.
Keep on enjoying yourself, but keep safe too. Anne xx
I'll stick to the canals There is no way on earth that you would get me doing that. I nearly drowned once and that is where it stops. However, good for you Liz. I'm impressed. That's a Christmas day to remember ! .....and I'm glad you survived to tell the tale.
Peace & Quiet Have you ever seen the movie Romancing The Stone? This is the kind of atmosphere I am picturing you in. I can't imagine doing it myself. Have you bought any souvenirs?
christmas day Your Christmas certainly sounded wild, the most energetic thing I did all day was slide off the settee, clutching a drink. Very jealous; we think.
Pictures please? So, now we need the evidence!
Glad you "enjoyed" it, good on you, water and heights in one day - hope your children are proud of you!! (Not as much, I suspect, as you are of yourself!)
Well done.
Adrenaline Rules OK That old saying - Your a better man than I.... comes readily to mind. All sounds exciting if a tad scary. Your exit from the raft sounds spectacular!! Pity is wasn't recorded, you could have sold on or two copies perhaps. Glad to hear that you did not rush back for more, that really would have been scary. Still you may get the chance to try bungie jumping later in the trip. Well done Lizzie - P!! You felt the fear but did it anyway. Love, John
water rafting thank goodness you wrote weve been holding our breath since xmas day glad to see you enjoyed yourself so much .i take we wont be going on a school trip white water rafting with you then well done mrs p from your best bod ryan
Big girl's blouse Thanks my son for keepin gme on the straight and narrow!! I was right to be apprehensive, I am going to write the report in a mo, but I went lower in teh water than I have ever been before and swallowed far more of that river than I wanted to!! However, I convinced myself that all bugs are beaten out of it as it goes over the Falls.
You would love this experience!
Happy White watering Boxing Day 4.30 pm feeling fat and bloated, hoping to hear how the intrepid traveller has got on.
Will try again later. looking forward to your blog.
Your Christmas Eve sounded lovely.
strap on a pair come on you big girls blouse - stop being scared of it and start looking forward to it. If you're going to worry about it then wait until about 20 mins before you start, otherwise you will waste time you could be enjoying more.
Lesson lover - happy christmas from me and Linds (and if you don't survive the rafting then good thinking on letting me have all your insurance details up front).
Oh, and try to keep your head out of Christmas dinner.
Vertigo Indeed You paint a vivid picture Liz and it all sounds wonderful. Knife Edge bridge sounds as though it would no doubt be a severe challenge to me too!! The spray from the falls will prepare you for the rafting!! Good luck and enjoy it.
Love, John
laughing hippos I would say that a mango hitting an iron roof would be quite startling! I didn’t know that hippos laugh. You’ve taught me something new for today :)
Christmas Day John, this is going to be something that I spend most of my time enjoying, but some of it wondering why on earth I am there!! I will write more!
