| 5th April 2007 Lisa | Yay! - From: MARCHing forward! Yay for Lisa's visit! Yay for yummy ice cream! And YAY for my birthday shout out (I had been waiting for it, so its better late than never). I am a little disappointed that England did not score a single point agaisnt Israel (only because I thought they were a good team). Sounds like Israel might do better in Euro 2008 than they did in Euro 2004! Where are the having Euro 2008? |
| 13th March 2007 N-Dogg | - From: Go Golan! when did Israel start looking like Ireland? I think there is more history in your blogs than there is in the entire history of the United States. It makes we wonder about the United States though...are we going to make it thousands of years into the future? Will our history be as rich? Gosh I hope so. And if not...I hope my family has left for Israel by then lol. |
| 11th March 2007 Linda | thanks for more great pictures - From: people make a place what it is I hope these entries will always be available online, because I haven't been saving them and they're really terrific! | 28th November 2006 Lisa | Hello there! - From: some anecdotes about being an american in Israel I think you should introduce the kiddies to Eminem. They like hip hop, they wanna learn English, have them learn from Eminem. Though, you might want to give them the cleaned up version. I don't think anyone would appreciate them learning bad words. ;) Interview tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed! |
| 27th November 2006 cate | - From: waiting to exhale When you mentioned cheap fishing poles it made me think of the time you, margan, and i went/attempted to go fishing at burke lake. actually now that i think about it did we even try to fish or did we just take the boat out? haha either way it that was a fun day. i hope the internship gets all worked out! |

You also seem busy with FUN stuff, which will make the entire experience SO memorable for the rest of your life. Treasure each moment and keep taking pictures! | 27th October 2006 Carol Schneier | - From: welcome to shalom aleichem Your episode going to the Bar Mitzvah was like a Seinfeld episode. I chuckled! Grandma Rae is enjoying your blog or letters. |
| 15th October 2006 Mom | Dead Sea Mud Packs - From: the bubble is about to burst Yuke! This is a photo to remember! The camel ride sounds like fun. I know how much you like horse-back riding. |
| 13th October 2006 Linda | wow! - From: going backwards to the head of the year what an amazing place to spend the holy days! Now, I not only want to go to Israel, but I definitely want to be there for the 10 days (and Slichot!) Thank you for a glimpse into your world love, cousin Linda |
| 19th September 2006 N-Dogg | tanning - From: ulpan in netanya Leigha, I noticed you are looking a little darker white girl. A note on tanning: espite societies outlook on the activity, it is very, very, very not good for you. Your skin darkens because it is literally burning--stop thinking tea-stained papyrus and start thinking toilet paper on fire. For those who enjoy tanning, it will equal wrinkly, pock-marked-like skin with the possibility of dark freckles. Kind of like when you burn something...like your skin... ...do you really want to burn the most importatn organ in your body and your body's first line of defence against infection? Just some food for thought... |
| 12th September 2006 N-Dogg | sweet - From: Please speak slowly Hearing you talk about Jerusalem is often invigorating--I remember being in England and seeing all of teh things I had read about my whole life and just being inawe that I was actually seeing and or touching whatever it was (Tower of London, ANYTHING in Oxford and Cambridge, Queen's Jewels, etc.) It is always so amazing to me that, especially in certain countries like England and Jerusalem, there is so much living history that you can literally walk all over and around it and it's no big deal. D.C. is almost the same way, but not in the living history part. The work ten minutes walking from the most powerful city on Earth and I take it for granted most of the time. Kind of puts things in perspective, yes? Glad to know you are having a great time and are being of good use. Keep it up Champ! |
| 22nd August 2006 N-Dogg | pics - From: old neighborhoods and new histories So wow, I never realized how beautiful Israel was until seeing all of the pictures you have been posting. I guess teh world is a beautiful place in general, you just have to know where to go, but Israel, or at least the places you seem to be visiting, seems to be particularly rich in this sense. Best of luck in your travels, and remember, stay safe. Famous last words: "don't worry, no bombs have been dropped here, it's safe." Tell that to people in the North and south World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon, the ultimiate safety zone. |
| 19th August 2006 cate | amazing - From: where the buses take me Leah, I can't believe you took that picture of the sunset. It is such an amazing picture. It was good talking to you the other day. Miss you :) |
| 16th August 2006 N-Dogg | - From: where the buses take me Was that last comment directed at me? I don't understand... Well I am so happy that you are touring the city with an avid passion. Let me tell you, I spent about an eighth of my time in England drinking and about half of it traveling. I remember two things from drinking (both cool stories) and almost everything from traveling. Time well spent? Absolutely. I plan on making a return trip within the next two years. |
| 7th August 2006 anonymous | N-Dogg - From: ramat gan is the place to be... That's right! Travel! I, by the way, am 99% sure that I am going to commision in the Air Force. I have made the decision and my parents support me, so the only thing stopping me now is teh recruiter possibly saying something like, "No...no...you are a dirty Puerto Rican and we don't love you--in fact, you're expatriated." Avoiding that, however, and I'm on within the year. I'll let you know how things progress :) Looks like I will be travelling the world a little bit too. |
| 6th August 2006 cousin Linda | - From: ramat gan is the place to be... thanks for the pix. You look great (and happy)! The area sounds terrific.. You're tempting me to come visit! love, Linda |
| 1st August 2006 N-Dogg | Pirates - From: pirates! You are living in one of the historic countries of our time an all you have to talk about is POTCII?!? That's like going to Australia to go to an Outback Steakhouse... SEE THE CITY MORE!!! MEET PEOPLE!!! |
| 1st August 2006 Lisa | Pirates! - From: pirates! Yay Pirates! Yay premiere! Yay Johnny! I watched a johnny movie today too...I love him... :) |
| 26th July 2006 Leahpi | N-Dogg - From: a week in the holy city yes, you should definately come visit, before you die preferably. i think you wuold enjoy it more that way. you should come visit while i'm here, of course, if you want to wait till after the war, i guess i'd understand. haha. but i'd be a good tour guide. |
| 24th July 2006 N-Dogg | - From: a week in the holy city I have heard about the mystical quality of Jerusalem before...and I am quite intrigued now. I have decided I will visit before I die. Or maybe after...who knows :P |
| 21st July 2006 Cassie | Come home Leah - From: in jerusalem! Hey Leah, We're all concerned about you here at IIS and Dean asked me to forward this to you. So here it is... "Please send this link to Leah so she can register online with the Embassy over there. https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ Other information for her is: The State Department urges American citizens to remain vigilant while traveling anywhere in Jerusalem, especially within the commercial and downtown areas of West Jerusalem. Israeli security services report that they continue to receive information of planned terrorist attacks in and around Jerusalem. In addition, American citizens should stay away from demonstrations and generally avoid crowded public places, such as restaurants and cafes, shopping and market areas and malls, pedestrian zones, public transportation of all kinds, including buses and trains and their respective stations/terminals, and the areas around them. Spontaneous or planned protests within the Old City are possible, especially after Friday prayers. Some of these protests have led to violent clashes. U.S. government personnel are prohibited from using all public transportation. The Old City of Jerusalem is off-limits to them after dark during the entire week and between the hours of 11:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. on Fridays. U.S. government employees are also forbidden from patronizing discos and nightclubs. Any American Citizen who intends to travel to Israel, Jerusalem, the West Bank or the Gaza Strip in spite of this and prior warnings should carefully review the Consular Information Sheet for Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. That reference describes other potential dangers and difficulties and offers detailed security recommendations. Palestinian-Americans face many additional obstacles and regulations that are described in that document. Americans who remain in Israel, Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip are strongly encouraged to register with the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv or the Consular Section of U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem through the State Department's travel registration website, https://travelregistration.state.gov. U.S. citizens who require emergency services may telephone the Consulate General in Jerusalem at (972) (2) 622-7250 or the Embassy in Tel Aviv at (972) (3) 519-7355. Dean" |
| 19th July 2006 N-Dogg | SOS - From: in jerusalem! What to do when your in trouble in Northern Israel (note: will never fail) 1.) Stop, access the situation, and stay calm. 2.) In a monotonous tone (maybe even condescending when appropriate) say, "Do you know who I am? I am KIEZER SOUZE!!!" (enunciate thoe last two words like you're a pyscopath") 3.) If this fails to work (will only happen if they aren't Kevin Spacey fans) pee on yourself and when they become distracted by your crotch kick them in the groin repeatedly until they fall over. Then scream "KIEZER SOUZE!" and run. 4.) Never return to said area. Ever. When they find out you were impersonating a movie produced by Paramount they are going to be pissed, plus by then their groins might have healed and they are going to be wanting to head butt you in the ovaries, so stay clear. Stay safe and keep up those kick excercises ;) |
| 16th July 2006 Howard Sobel | kepp your head down :) - From: thanks Hi Leahpi We havnt seen each other for a few years. i am your uncle Bruces cousin and your Grandma's twins sister was my mother. Luckily, only Iran and Syria are supporting the Hezbollah...even Saudi Arabia has come out against them...however the longer this lasts the more likely some greater involvement.. Be Careful and Hi to your mom for me....let me know what you see there, I am really interested in this Howard |
| 14th July 2006 Cassie | - From: thanks Hey Leah, I'm glad you let us know where you are in respect to all of this violence. You know how I am - I don't follow the news very well. But now that I have a friend over there I am much more interested in what is going on. I am making it a point to now try and understand what is going on in Isreal so that I will be a little more confident that you are ok over there. It's really weird now... all of this seriously catches my attention now (and for me - trust me - it's very weird) Anyway... keep safe and keep us informed as I know you will! :) Love ya! |

| 11th July 2006 N-Dogg | work that thang - From: i call this entry #2 Don't get arrested--that would suck. Especially that part where you get incarcerated and then eventually deported. FYI--I don't believe that is your cousin. She looks more like she is related to me than you and I think I would know if there was some hot hispanic cousin of mine living in Israel. PS Kaya looks like you are about to eat him in that picture. Be nicer to the dog please--just because he is man's best friend doesn't mean you have to hate him you know |
