Im currently in my 3rd of 4 years at Winchester Uni studying Primary Teaching with Art and have been granted a (second) gap year to go and teach in Ghana. Im leaving in January 2010 and I CANNOT WAIT!!!

So im having an 'i cant wait to get to Ghana' week this week. getting very excited about it all!!! sent off my Visa app form this week. it cost me £78 all together inc. special delivery. say whaaaaaaaaat?? bit worried my passport is going to get lost in the post- and then i will have to leg it to London a MILLION times to get a new passport AND new visa. hopefully not. watch this space. went shopping today. got my sleeping bag for the overland tour- and poss the house if the bedding isnt comfy- although apparently the temp drops about 2 degrees from the day to the night in Ghana so i doubt i will need it somehow!!! Right so planning is in full swing as there is only 62 days till i leave :D had alot of ups and downs over the last few weeks. downs mainly being money worries, ups being the things i want to buy with the money i dont have!!! so basically i made a group on facebook about a week ago to keep track of all the people coming out the same time as me, and to keep in contact with them before and after etc. it has 30 members already!!! Will one of the lads posted a link to a 23 day tour of zimbabwe, botswana, namibia, and South Africa- it is basically a tour from the Victoria Falls to Cape Town. mainly Game Parks and Deserts, and there is the oppertunity for bungee jumping, sandboarding, jumoing ... read more

So this is my first ever blog entry. Im going to Ghana in January to teach, travel and work in an orphanage with Projects Abroad- which is a volunteer company. VERY expensive way of doing it- but it means that i get the security of staff in the country, homestay which has been checked out, and everything organised for me. why am i going? Well I went to Kenya for a month at the end of my first Gap year in 2006. it was AMAZING!
