Dumela! We are now officially Batswana: We have been given new names. Lindsay is Lorato, which means laugh. It was given to her by some women on a combi, though we speculate that it refers to the fact that people laugh at us, and not so much because she laughs all the time. I am Lesego (pronounced (le-SAY-ho), which means fortune. I was named by the people we work with, and it came shortly after Mama Pula, the kindly 70-year old volunteer cook, decided to arrange my marriage to her son.
