Yesterday we met up with Jacqui, Steve, Marlene & Mark as they arrived back from their trek in Sapa. A Couple of hours later we were off to our overnight trip to Halong Bay on a Junk. A 4hr Drive in traffic chaos we finally made it.... As you can imagine the girls hadn't seen each other for a week......So here we are in a 16 seater mini bus with 3 husbands and 6 Americans. I don't know what they thought but us girls didn't take a breath from talking for about the first two hours. The men weren't too impressed. But...they were prepared. Between the three of them they had a supply of happy water and mixers in the back row of the van and quite happily mixed their own in to cans on the ... read more

With all the little hicupps I wouldnt change a thing and would definately come back as this is half the experiance. From the shower floor being taped up with Gaffa tape to stop the leak to the power plugs nearly falling out of the wall.....lol We are actually in a delux hotel, besides all that the lady is wonderful and very accomodating. We didn't wake up until late this morning, trying to catch up on some sleep and trying to give my feet and ankles a rest as they looked like elephant feet by the time I climbed in to bed last night. We had breakfast and went for a wander through the Old Quater, which is where we are staying every street is named after what they are selling, EG: wood street, ratan street, we ... read more

So we make it to Hanoi Vietnam, get off the plane down to collect our baggage... Locks on my suitcase have been broken and prized open. As you can imagine I was just a little freaked out thinking I was the next Shappelle... I didn't get dragged off so every thing must off been ok. They don't ask for you permission apparently they just do it and thats that. So we head off through security and customs, straight through... Funny that as there is no one manning the counters. So secure.. In to the airport lobby where our driver will be waiting to pick us up because that is what I have arranged. Not wanting to be in a strange country late at night not knowing where to go because here the taxi drivers tell ... read more

Off to Chutachut Market, Thought we would take a taxi as with all the heat and all the walking my ankles are now wider than my legs due to swelling, as the haven't gone down since the plane ride and the heat has made them worse. Well every damm taxi wants to take us to a sponsor as it is a holiday they get double stamps for fuel. So Brad decides we will get a Tuk Tuk, same same..... wants to take us to the sponsor we get out and walk. Brad says's it is just around the corner to the sky train... Yeah right... he has only been here 2 days and is already stretching the truth. We make it to the BTS (Sky rail) get to the market which is 35 acres and 15000 ... read more

Overcast, thank god for that, however still humid at least it is not sunny as I am running out off clothes all all my stuff is drenched after about 2 hrs and only have about 3 out fits, every thing in the market is for skinny people, so I can't buy anything to fit. I have had to resort to washing clothes in the bathroom sink so that I have something to wear at least, as the laundry service in the hotel is expensive. We head off to Pratunam Markets, finally I buy something. Amazing as it seems I haven't yet bought anything yet as I wanted to check out prices and get a feel for things and whats about. Well once I started it was very hard to stop, especially when the little voice in ... read more

Didn't get much sleep about 61/2hrs. Made our way to our buffet breakfast, then the humidity hit us, about 33deg with at least 80-90% humidity. Anyone that knows me, know that hot weather and I are not a good mix, it is like turning a sweat tap on. We are off to see the Grand Palace today, our first experience with a taxi driver. We knew we had to catch the ferry to get to the grand palace. We had heard all the doggy stories about the Tuk Tuk and taxies drives so we should know better right...... We thought we were safe catching a taxi in our hotel car park, he was a hotel staff right.... WRONG.....He said he would take us to the Pier...OK..200THB. Little did we know the pier and ferry we ... read more

Hi all, Our dear friend Kyla saved the day and drove us to the airport as we were apparently in an area where we were unable to get the shuttle bus..... Arrived at Sydney about 3ish for a 5.00pm flight to Bangkok. Unfortunately Brad and I were stuck in the middle section of the plan of a row of 4 people 1 either side of us. Not a good experiance for 2 larger people. Me with a weak bladder sitting next to a guy that resembles the incredible hulk and is half in my seat and Brad sitting next to Mr Bean....It was the longest 9hr flight ever and we were both glad to get off the damm plane. One consolation the food was good and it just kept arriving. We arrived at our hotel at ... read more
