Well, Dave is having to write this entry because Kevyn blew away in Parque Nacional Torres del Paine in Chile. As the hurricane force winds blew her off the trail, she was heard screaming¨"But I paid alot of money to suffer like this...". Okay, I´m kidding of course, but it isn´t that far from the truth, it was really windy! We left Punta Arenas on the first bus we could on Monday. We headed to Puerto Natales, the gateway to Torres del Paine, and only a three hour bus ride this time. We found a nice little hostel (Casa de [View Full Entry]

Today was spent entirely on a bright yellow bus from Ushuaia to Punta Arenas, Chile. We are trying to work our way north, and this was the first bus we could get out of Ushuaia. It was about 11 hours...not too bad, not too fun! We left the hostel at 7:30am, and arrived on the outskirts of Punta Arenas about 7 pm. It was a rather dull ride, but we managed to actually see quite a bit of wildlife along the way. Sadly, no photos were taken. But we saw guanacos, foxes, rheas (I think...some gigantic, flightless emu-like bird??), flamingos and [View Full Entry]

NOW, with MORE PHOTOS!!! We had a few days to wait for our bus north, so we decided to head out into the small 'End of the World' National Park. We covered almost all of the trails in our 2 short days. They were nice along the coast and some small lakes and bogs. There are several similarities to Alaska and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Ushuaia for 2 days. The backpacking consisted of a few trails and road side hiking, the park was quite busy and even had a pretty pathetic narrow [View Full Entry]

...and we feel fine. Yes, we´re fully recovered and finally enjoying our trip. We flew to Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego, so nearly the end of the world, or as a local told us " the other ass of the world". We arrived late in the evening and fortunately already had a hostel booked. This is very contrary to our normal mode of travel, but we decided to play it safe. Ushuaia proved to be very touristy and we weren´t able to book a bus out of here until five days out. So, we´re shuffling along the streets with the hundreds [View Full Entry]

This won´t really be a proper entry about Buenos Aires since we were only there for a day and I (Kevyn) slept 18 hours of it! Dave got out and about a bit and took some photos. We plan on spending nearly a week here at the end of our trip, so we can really explore the city! Our journey has gotten off to a rough start. A truly horrible stomach flu took over me completely and I was hardly recognizable as a human being...I could barely walk upright as we shuffled from car to train to car to plane to [View Full Entry]

So, our wedding was in July...but we waited until winter to go on our honeymoon. These snowy winter photos should give you an idea why! We left home in Homer on December 25th and drove to Anchorage to spend Christmas in with some great friends and do some house-sitting. Our wonderful friends, Jessica and Nick, graciously offered to watch Alfred and Bandit, the four-leggeds that usually live with us. We finally began the journey south on New Year's Eve when we flew to California. We spent the first week of 2007 celebrating Marge's birthday and the New Year in Santa Cruz [View Full Entry]
