How judgemental!! I resent someone from CA coming to West Va. and thinking that we are a bunch of hicks who could not possibly have met anyone from CA! Like we are still in the stone age. You obviously have been subjected to a lot of media reinforcement of the stereotypical "hillbilly". Too bad you could not appreciate the natural beauty of our state without making comments about West Virginians that are untrue. If anyone needs enlightenment, it is you. I and my family are West Virginians, two of us have Master's Degrees, one is on her way to a Ph.D, and all of us have travelled extensively (even to California)!
missing you. come home! something in your face.... you look different...more learned... like a man that has found his purpose. now come home so you can share with us! when can expect to see you?
Love love love,
Dev
Great shots Kev, you got some great shots of your Hawaii trip. Have never been to Poipu when I've seen the 'local beasts' on the sand. However, your Christmas tree has truely got to be the saddest thing I've seen in a long time. A.M.
am i ready?????? gee, i'm getting nervous now! cool pics. so glad we got to chat! and where are the glitzer glam photos of the new kev? :)) take care, m.
smokies I imagine this region is pretty in the summer/spring/early fall. I personally dont find bare trees appealing, and thats al I've seen since I arrived. If you do come out here, the town of Gatlinburg is a good place to start your adventure. It's known as the gateway to the Smokies and offers a comfortable vacation atmosphere. A good jumping-off point. From what I saw in Kentucky during the summer, this area must be beautiful when the trees are green.
awe... Awe Kev...you're dad is adorable. I hope you're holding up out there in that world of yours. We've got big plans when you get back so let me know! Missing you,
Devonne
Yes, I liked the photo of Phil also! Glad you had a good visit with your dad. I know that your mom is really looking forward to your safe return and some relaxation for all in Kauai.
Marilyn Hi Marilyn, thanks for all the comments! I'm so glad to hear you were out there working for progress of humanity (namely, peace and understanding). Even though the candidates lost, it sure felt good to hear "Democrats win state X" over and over again in the background TV at a motel lobby or gas station. Even more of a relief was seeing the 80-year-old cowboy and chain-smoking clerk nodding in approval and talking (in not so many words) like a discontented LA college student would about the last couple years of leadership. People everywhere are ready fot change, they've just been too reserved (and duped) to say otherwise. What a learning experience this trip is. Thanks for always taking interest in what I'm doing! It sure makes life easier knowing people are following along.
The election Yeah, how about those election results? I walked precincts for two women who lost -- Ferial Masry loosing to Audra-I-Hate-Public-Education-Strickland and Jill Martinez, a presbyterian minister who lost to Elton Gallegly. but I also made GOTV phone calls for Claire McCaskill and so got to talk to some very negative folks voting for Talent in Missouri, so I was elated when she won. I guess my fear is not that Peace and Understanding have won this election but that Bush and gang so thoroughly botched things that they lost it. But still in the struggle! Glad Tennessee is being good to you!
Smokey Drain Easily my favorite of the photos -- although I am intrigued by the Jesus car. And of course I did love the fall colors and wish I were there hiking instead of slogging through teacher certifications! Hey, great to hear from you!
Great photos! Hey Kev, I love the one of the bridge and fall colors---nice job! And the towns there really do look like something straight out of Mayberry. Where's Aunt Bea and little Opie? Your mom says stay out of the rivers!
that car of a church is atrocious i hope you went in there and got blessed by a toothless black women wearing a moo-moo. that flash picture looks to be in the 4th dimension! somehow you've managed to allow a piece of your face to temporially asend to transparency.
anyway good to hear from you yesterday. have a nice break!
Can't read your blog at work because the District screens out blogs (for all the right reasons, no doubt!) but never was getting on the computer at home, because Nathaniel was always there this last month since he got home from Vermont -- but Nathaniel went back to school today, so am able to catch up on the trip. The campground looks lovely, hope you are enjoying the scenery!
califonian good job enlightening the hicks about california. keep up the good work. the nature of southern wv is beautiful, i bet is hot there though, with insects the size of rodents
Nice photos! Hi Kev--
I love the shots of the trails and back roads--the solitude and peacefulness are beautiful. What took you to Cincinnati??
Keep em coming!
Techie help needed! Hey Kev! I loved your latest commentary--thanks for the great glimpse of what you're living! How do we get to see the video???? Stay clear of the lightning!
