Obstacles can be overcome... so don't give up. We are rooting for you! It's good to see that B&B's are an option. Did you break in your hiking boots before the trip? Any other tips about how to avoid blisters? How are the walking sticks working for you? Great to see pictures back.
I was thinking of doing the Camino with family... but would it be better to go alone so that I would meet more strangers? I note that you and Tanya depend upon each other for encouragement and logistics (getting the Ipad out of the backpack), so perhaps having one family member would be good. If showers are not allowed in the morning, do you take them in the evening, or do you just give up taking showers? How much does it cost for a bunk and meals at the albergue? I hadn't read about the winds either, so already your blogs are more informative that others I have read.
I'm really enjoying your blogs with your earthy sense of humor... As you go along I will have some questions. How did you decide how far to go the first day? What if you got to the Auberge Orisson and there wasn't any room left? Did you reserve space in advance or were you prepared to walk to the next place? Are there a lot of places to stay so this wouldn't be a concern? Thanks!
Travelboggers are by definition... kind and understanding! The Camino is on my bucket list, especially after having been inspired by the movie "The Way." I also look to your blog for further inspiration as I will likely do on the job training. I may imitate a friend who took 9 months, stopping for as much as a week at places she really enjoyed along the way. And please post a few pictures in each blog...that helps me visualize your experience and get to know you and Tanya better.
I would walk five hundred miles... I am sure the pics don't do the landscape justice! Your feet must feel like they've been put through a meat tenderizer! And poor Tanya's knee! Thanks for taking us along on your spiritual & physical journey! It's so much fun to read (sometimes at your expense!!!) and we have such a friggin' appreciation for all you're enduring! Keep the blogs coming!!
Buen Camino! I've really enjoyed reading your blogs so far, and I'm very impressed that you are blogging as you go. Looking forward to following your journey. Cheers, Ren
