Cacti
Nice cacti but not good to sit on. Try succulants instead - much softer......so I'm told.

Guinea pigs for dinner!
Never liked guinea pigs as a child- now know I should have tried them with tomato ketchup! Very envious of all the llamas; did you see anyone knitting with the llama wool? Love, Julia

Cahuachi
Did you go to Cahuachi? Looked up the lines and quote"On the pampa, south of the Nazca Lines, archaeologists have now uncovered the lost city of the line-builders, Cahuachi. It was built nearly two thousand years ago and was mysteriously abandoned 500 years later. New discoveries at Cahuachi are at last beginning to give us insight into the Nazca people and to unravel the mystery of the Nasca Lines." Maybe it is too far from where you are? Love Mum

Butterflies
Watch out for the butterflies - I think you can get absolutely gigantic ones out there! Am amazed at how quick you have been off the mark in exploring, I'll bet you're glad for Michel Thomas now. We saw masses of lizards in Africa, and reading your post makes me realise how much you get used to little things like that! I miss those funny little critters here. Our birds have been going through their food like crazy this week - I think they feel winter on its way. Bet you're not missing that! Love Cat x

Iquitos
Hi Kat sounds really nice there. The floating town will be interesting and a jungle trek would be good. Are there lots of spiders? What is the food like? Can you put any photos on the blog or is that too difficult? Raining and raining in the UK- bad flooding in the lake district. Could do with some of that sun! Love Mum

Glad you arrived safely!
Thank you for the e-mail; relief to hear your mammoth journey went ok. Jim and Paul got to Gatwick ok this morning so by now they should be in the Canaries. However their blog (automatically meant to show position in the world?) shows them to be in a field half mile south of Pulborough. Think you are actually the only one travelling anywhere! Have fun. Keep safe x

Hi Katrina Really enjoyed looking round for the last items with you this week. Up and Under was a good shop to go to- we should have tried there first! Hope you can fit everything in the rucksack and that you have a great time on your travels. Wish I could come with you! Love Mum
