Go USA Kathleen sent us the info on your blog. You are so impressive on so many levels! Thanks for finding the time to keep us gringos informed about your life. Though we know who you'll be rooting for (on the inside) in the game tomorrow, (on the outside) you probably should root for your new home team! They will advance to another game, if they win tomorrow, so I'm sure the whole country will go nuts, if they do. As a parent, I'll remind ya to be very careful, keep trusting in His direction, and have a ball making memories. We all love ya!
You are the best Hey Bud, i am glad you are having fun. I keep you in my prayers. I am so proud of you and i like your stories. Make sure you cheer for the "Black Stars" tomorrow. By the way, don't get in any type of soccer discussion with people. I love you and miss you
You're awesome! Katie -I'll keep this short, but wanted to say you're awesome and I love your stories and blogs! I am more impressed with you everyday and am so proud of you. Your pictures are awesome, too! Keep up the great work and know that all of us love and miss you. Just make sure you're cheering for the right team tomorrow! :)
Katie rocks the world!!! Hey Katie! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Ghana. It's very interesting and inspiring at the same time. You have an incredible strength to be a witness to all of the suffering. You really live out what you have learned. You are truly using your education, knowledge, and heart to make the world a better place. Dancing machine (yes, that's you), miss you A TON in St. Louis!
celine dion katie o! what is up girl? so, i guess celine dion has infiltrated the world. in central america she was referred to as "the golden voice." it was common place to have thugs rockin' out to miss dion.
much love,
alibaby
ps--i thoroughly enjoyed the ghana game on saturday!!!
Hi Katie, thanks for sharing your adventures with us. So interesting, and my heart goes out to all the people who are forced to live on the street. I heard on TV this morning that the government in Ghana is asking people to cut back on their use of electricity, because so many people are watching the World Cup wherever they can find a TV. I can't even imagine what Thursday will be like! Love, Rose
Bargaining Katie: Glad to hear you are well. Keep honing those bargaining skills. We are all thinking and praying for you here. Ron Knapp has been reading your blog and I just ran into Bolivar at the Rec who is hoping to catch up on your blog this afternoon at the library. I am here to meet with Marion about the Fall Lay Frm Retreat but she is not yet here. Summer school has started for those taking summer classes (not me) Dominic and Rick are here for the summer. Harry is also here. George has gone to Nova Scotia and then Cape Cod and will be back in August. We are having a TGIF party on Fri pm here at school. Kathleen Tehan is organizing. Its good to hear from you. Keep in touch. Remember God loves you and so do all your friends at AI.

Whitey haha. katie thanks for letting us in on your journey...the good, the bad, the challenging, and the life changing. you are doing an amazing thing. you are in my prayers. keep your head up and keep leanign on HIM.
peace
Good to hear from you so regularly Katie:
I'm at AI again today doing some returning of library books and beginning to get organized for next year. Yes, I am going to have a much different year this year. Work is slow so we are taking time off until the census again rises, which it will inevitably will. I am also doing some extra working out to stay fit for dancing and prancing. It sounds so amazing there. I'll update the AI community . Be good to yourself and God Bless
You are so lucky! I'm so happy that you are having a great time. I'm sure you are beginning to understand when I say that when I boarded the plane to come home, I cried for hours! I still miss Ghana and my friends so much! By the way, I see you are from Iowa, I'm from Minnesota!
I think you could travel every weekend and still not see everything in Ghana! The country is beautiful and fascinating! And so inexpensive. When you get time go to the cultural market in Accra where they sell every kind of craft and food. The sellers are a little agressive there, but the prices are really good!
And try plantain chips that you can buy in plastic bags from people on the street--I am so hooked on them! I will be anxiously awaiting another entry in your blog. Great Pictures! Don't you think that Ghanaian people are very good looking for the most part?
Take care and enjoy--but don't forget to drink as much water as you can hold! You get so dehydrated there so easily!
Yah! I hope you have tones of fun! Hey!
I am so glad that you made it in one piece! That must have been one long flight. It is so interesting to read your comments. I think it is so cute how the children think of our skin as much different.
I am eager to read and learn more from what you see!
best regards,
Megan Macalady (fellow student),
Thank God! Hey chica! I'm glad you made it safe and sound... Isn't it funny about little ones with their advice? Anyway, I'm sending ya lots of love! Let us know if you need anything!
Yellie
You, you, you Hi Kates! Sure happy that you made it there safe and sound. It was great talking to you yesterday, even if it was only for a moment. We are thinking about you and praying for you every day. We sure are proud of you! Love ya . . .Pops
Katie, What adventures you're having! When Bill and I visited China about 10 years ago, several people wanted their pictures taken with him, he's very fair, red hair. It was so much fun. Love, Rose
Welcome to you new summer home! Hey Katie,
I'm glad to read that you arrived safely and are already having a wonderful experience! To relate some of my experiences in Mexico (with SLU in 2004) to what you are going through now, I had such a fun time with the kids there! They laughed at our intepreter and us when we were speaking English because they thought we sounded funny! :) Also, a comment that Linda made on the previous entry is one that I too wanted to comment on. She mentioned seeing such wonderful spirit in people that had so little material possessions. I too experienced this at a base Christian community meeting outside of Cuernevaca. It was AMAZING to hear about their spirit, the power and strength that these women had in each other, and the faith that they had despite being so impoverished. It was an honor when these women bought soda and made tamales, etc. to welcome us as their guests that night. I hope you have many experiences like this! Hopefully we will see each other sooner than later in this great journey we call life. Love, Gina
Katie! I miss you so much already! St. Louis and especially Campus Ministry (yes, I still go and bug sister pat) are not the same without you. I am so excited for you and this amazing experience you are undertaking this summer! You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I know you will be doing amazing things this summer with all of your incredible talents! I love and miss you! Big Hugs, Kisses, Prayers, and Love- Claire
p.s. Remeber to think of how cool Claire is...hehe ;)
the Welcome Hey Katie--How are you?? I can't believe you are in Ghana now! I hope all is well, can't wait for pictures...only then will i believe it:) love you always, K
Hi Katie! Hi Katie, I enjoyed reading your entry...I hope you made it to Ghana as scheduled...How was the flight? Was it what you expected to see? Let's stay in touch!
Manny :)
Connections/Community I am connected with Ghana now because of YOU, who are investing sacred energy in going there. This country will never again be only a geography footnote or even a name in news headlines. Thank you for building a community to take with you there.
You will fall in love with Ghana Hello Kaite,
I am thinking of you today as you begin your trip to Ghana, and thinking back to two years ago on June 4 when I was taking the same journey. I know that you are going to have such a wonderful experience in Ghana, you will learn and grow, you will find great empathy for people who go without so much but who are so rich in culture and family and friendships. Your heart will be touched like never before and you will never be the same again! Ghanaians are the most wonderful people on the face of the earth and as you hear people on the streets yell to you "Akwaaba Obruni" you will realize the depth of their friendliness. As they engage you in conversation to try out their Engilish, you will love their openess and honesty. When the little children examine your hands and fingers amazed at the color of your skin and call you miss and tell you their names, you will fall in love! God bless you during this time. I hope you will have the opportunity to meet some of my friends in Ghana! I look forward to your blogs!
WOW Katie, what can I say about you that already has not been said on here?! Seriously, you are an inspiration....you have one of the biggest hearts I know of, and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers while you are over there. I know my experience in Spain this summer will pale in comparison to what you'll be doing and experiencing in Ghana, but we'll have to share stories nonetheless. Take care sweetie...and can't wait to hear all about everything!
I will be going to Accra, Ghana from June until the end of August to volunteer at the West Africa AIDS Foundation and to complete a social work practicum. ... full info
