hahahahahahah Oh Katie, I have been laughing out loud reading your adventures with Vjera. My neighbour is Serbian and always tells me stories of the generosity of the people and the stunning landscapes - you've inspired me to go!!!
I will return to read some more at a later date - can hardly wait for debrovniak (spelling?) as I hear it is magnificient!!!
Love your posts!! Happy travels and beware the Albanians!!!
Serbian Granny - Power! I'm laughing my face off- Grandmas around the world you just got to love them how lucky you we all are. I'm balling my eyes out I just love this family how wonderful it must be to experience such true kindness and she is funny as hell. It's very funny that you worked in a coffee shop in Ireland - didn't drink the coffee and your Serbian Granny has you drinking it several times a day. LOL Grandparents are powerful people.
Vjera I like her. Vjera, I can hardly wait to see pictures of her - I smile thinking of how wonderful she is and how she obvisouly was tickled pink by you and took you in.
Black mountains from the train view looks very eerie....... but i just love all the views and landscape are lovely.
Happy Easter! I'm smiling grinning ear to ear when you mentioned the peacocks I could see you in my mind the memory of you chasing the the peacocks at the Zoo for just one feather. It must have been amazing seeing so many at once. Croatia is beautiful. What they refer to beaches is like the Nova Scotians - remember how many so called beaches were only rock and stones. Oh and the eggs are so very pretty.. you wouldn't want to eat them.
I just want to thump this guy! What the heck. I realize you are a good judge of character, but scream next time will yeh! Im glad it worked out I'm sure he was a little drunk but but but.... .Anyway. keep being safe and I do love theses pictures especially the pic 010. The man cloaked and sitting with what looks like a pen in hand.
Live and Enjoy.... as your Grandpa RJ would say.
What a great day. This sounded like another perfect day, with the exception of the lutes travel hiccup of a site being closed LOL. No pictures so I could not see the wonderful exhibit pieces you spoke of.
Happy travels. Mom
Beautifully described Even without pics I can picture the transition you written words a wonderful.
I hope your back is feeling better- could be a result of all the different beds you are sleeping in.
Keep safe can't wait until the next blog.
Bears in the City Ok now this is crazy - bears. Don't be crazy like your sister Kristie and get to close. My heart is already beating to fast with panick. Those are fat big paw prints meaning a big fat bear who might be still hungry.
Closed - as a Lutes is vacationing Well I have to laugh April not to far off, and you a few days early. Sorry you missed going into the theatre. But Czech sounds beautiful.
when east and west were.... somewhat still segregated I was there. (we actually we got to stand on the wall as they had just decided that the wall was to come down),....and they had those exact same crosses on the fence. Your right, that is disappointing after all these years. The wall seems to be really done up with a lot of nice art work though?!? Anyway, keep on keepin'on! Enjoying your blogs.
Neat-O! Neat-O. Looks really nice. Wish I had seen more of Czech. Only went to Prague which I loved. Check out the Alfons Mucha museum...loved that and the city was beautiful. I also went to some church that was decorated with Human bones. I think it is called Kostnice?!? Could be wrong about the name. It is a couple hour train ride from Prague. Anyway....enjoy!
Kath.
I have the opening and closing ceremony So, when you get home you can borrow the video tape to watch it if you want. I thought the opening ceremonies were well done even though there were some mechanical difficulties toward the end. It was really simple, clean and classy and not as gaudy as I thought it might have been. Oh, there was one Gaudy part....Nelly Furtado's dress.....gooooddaawwwful!, and the chiefs turning up late!!! The closing I have only seen a part of and still need to finish watching the end....there is a part where we are kind of poking fun of the stereo typical idea of "Canada" with large beavers and mounties etc.....kind of cheesy. They also had large table hockey players moving around which was a neat concept...so, that is about the only parts I have seen!
Actually lost $5 cause I thought Canada was going to lose, as the US beat them in a previous game 5-3....but I was still hoping for Canada. It was a good ending to an Olympic games...host country wins last event. Apparently 26 million in Canada watched...WOW! Anyway...enjoy the rest of your travels. Wasn't the concentration camp emotionally draining??....I remember very well my visit to the Buchenwald. Loved Fussen, remember my exchange partner Verena???way back in the day??...her Grandmother lived in Fussen so I spent quite a bit of time there...beautiful place!....brought back memories! continue to enjoy!!! Tschuss!
now you know..... ....why I said I loved BArcelona....loved all the Gaudi....if you can, try to get to Figueras in Catalan....Dali has a museum there...it's brilliant and I think I went to a nearby village called Cadaques....which is tucked at the side of mountains meeting sea...if I re-call! I loved it...I think you will too!
don't buy any Spanish flamenco... ...guitar music as I have a few that you can make copies of. I have the Romero brothers who are quite popular spanish guitar players. I love flamenco. When I studied Spanish in Malaga, I took some flamenco lessons......such a beautiful dance and tough to learn as well....good you saw that!
Same photos Oh my...I took two of the same random photos you took. The flower pots up the stairwell and the donkey/ burro photo....good eyes see a like...okay maybe the donkey one is just so cute you need to take a photo of it!
Anyway, keep on....travelling on.......still very jealous.....k...although least we have some new snow now....
nothing to say. I still enjoy your blog Nothing much to mention you say. But i enjoyed reading this blog you make me laugh out loud. Really laugh not jus LOL.
Mom

This is a nice day in Morocco. I'm glad you have had a great day. I love the cave couple story. Also, lovin the Katie Turban style. Just hearing about this place makes me feel like we are for the first time worlds apart. Unbelievable....
surreal I can believe! Oh,Katie I just love this part of your trek... so cool the shadow camel pics.... I'm in awe. How can absolutely nothingness (desert) be amazingly beautiful. You look so darn cute on jimmy by the way. That made me laugh too. Despite your ill experience in Morocco you got to see the real beauty..
