Hey all, I am in Ireland!! Just saying that makes me tired. What a long long long trip. We got up at 4 am in Quito and I arrived in Dublin about 1 am Ecuador time the next morning. Fortunately it was about 8:30 am when I got in so it was light and I had the whole day to explore and try to find a place to stay. Which unfortunately took me ages. Hello everyone, What a week it has been. It´s all so jumbled in my head. I took great care to write everything down so I could remember exactly how it went, but I left off with that a few days ago. We just got back from the oriente or la selva or the jungle. What amazing trip. I am a little melancholy now that we are back in Quito. We met so many wonderful people and had so many new experiences. The first day we arrived we went out with our group and our guide for a little trip up the river. We didn´t see very many animals, but we saw many birds, and many many morpho butterflies. God those are brilliant. Our group was absolutely fantastic. Quito and Otavalo

Virgen de Panecillo

My Dad and I flew into Quito on the fourth and stayed there for a few days. We didn't do a whole lot, but we did go see the Virgen of Quito. It's a 40m tall silver statue of the Virgin standing on top of the world, stepping on a serpent. It's quite the sight! (Kai thank you for the recommendation!) Overall I found Quito rather overwhelming. It is a very fast, big, and loud city. And it is very hard to breath on the main streets because the diesel smell is so bad!
