Peru
No Machu Picchu on your Peru agenda - you will be so close... Sounds like you and Motosan are developing quite the bond - this is a good thing because you are kinda' dependent on "him" (?) so keeping him well "healed" is important. See you...

Juanito y Motosan
Oh Juanito! You are starting to scare me...... remember Tom Hanks and "Wilson" in The Castaway? Hmmmm.... Juanito y "Motosan". Motosan is beginning to sound like your very good friend and confidante! Your latest blog certainly does your special connection with Ecuador and the very good friends you've made there over the past two years. Safe riding in Peru you two! Te Quiero!

Great Stuff
Firstly keep up the great blog. I know Henry is really enjoying it (probably others) and obviously there is a lot more to come. There have been a number of world gliding records set in Argentina by some New Zealanders and Germans so you may find some good flying there although it can be a bit scary as weather is very changeable in the mountain areas and the potential to land out safely is just about non-existent in these areas. Is Bruce still with you? We are back in NZ as of the 13th Nov. and I am looking forward to flying again and putting the BMW on the Kiwi roads. Best regards to you and Motosan.

catching up
Hey John. I am just catching up with your travels. We had 3 weeks at Alexis and a couple of trips to Kamloops. The pictures of Big Sur brought back good memories of my trip to the Mexican border on that vibrating BSA. I loved the patio jail story. I was really chuckling thinking of you and Bruce figuring that one out. Glad you did. Ride safe, dude! Jeff

Oaxaca
Jeff's sister went to Oaxaca every year for a long time to help a team of volunteer surgeons perform eye surgery on people who came out of the mountains and walked for days to get help. Blind people who could see for the first time - totally amazing stuff and stories - miracles do happen! She loved the people, the town (I have seen many pictures of the central square) and the famous black pottery that is made there. Sounds like you had a good experience too.

Patzquaro
With all those cars lined up in the street I am thinking I would be skipping the birthday party... I know people who live in San Miguel de Allende and they love it - though it seems that with all the Americans moving there it really is losing its former self - for me, kind of sad... I agree with the "Great pics" - I can see the shot of all the houses on the hill in Guanajuato, blown up, in a frame on a wall. You are becoming famous for your writings - I have people asking me for your next update - as they say keep those cards and letters coming and continue to BE SAFE!

Read it all, slideshows are amazing!
What a trip! The pictures are awesome and remind me of several movies I've seen filmed in various areas- or look-a-like areas! Wow! Not a trip for Goldwings I see! Pictures are gorgeous- although I would have enjoyed seeing pix of some of the fellow travellers you've encountered! Looking forward to your next installation! Keep safe!

Hi John, I have finally read your blogs, charted your journey and looked at your beautiful pictures. Omigosh, what an amazing trip you are having. I like what you write about...the biking details are interesting to fellow riders. The surprises that you've experienced, such as having some preconceptions challenged, are also interesting to me. We had a great trip over the Beartooth Pass in Wyoming this summer, but despite the buffalo rubs, snow and lightning, we'd probably still get a pussy rating given what you've experienced! I look forward to your next installment!

Sure enjoy following your travels John.

Good job
Good job on writing about these wonderul places. Most people only think about the resort areas when they think of Mexico for vacationing. However, I personally feel that the colonial cities in inland Mexico are much more entertaining and enjoyable. I especially like Guadalajara and Guanajauto too! www.resorts360usa.com

I'm breathless......
I was held captive by this piece I must say. Rode those windy roads with you and even got sick of them...then you saying you had had enough! Laughed over your comment on our windy roads home here being for pussies! When you mentioned seeing the Rivera Museum in Guanajauto, I envied that. I love his paintings and thought I'd bring out a Puzzle I have with his Lady selling Flowers and do it this evening!! The accomodations you chose sounded reasonable and safe for your bikes. That watery experience you had kind of made me nervous but knew as I read you'd get thru it! Oh, by the way, I'm your Moms fellow weaving buddy if you hadn't guessed upon seeing my name, sorry! Great writing, keep up the great reports and the pictures are wonderful. I'm excited over the next Lap! Stay safe....."J"

You look cool Dad. What a magnificent canyon. But I LOVE your adventure stories. Especially the part where you ask "What would Macgiver do?" Hilarious!

Good So Far
Finally got a chance to visit your blog. Looks like the road has been kind to you so far. I remember some of the west coast from a trip my Brother and I took back when I was just a young lad and it was great. All the best to you John, may your road be smooth.

hi John
That taxi ride from Manta sounds like it is worse than the road into the lake. Looking at your friend John's condo, looks like a paradise. A nice place to retire for sure. We are looking forward to seeing you in August. Take care.

Muy agradable escribir esto para sus amigos de habla hispana. Demuestra la consideración y el respecto. Puedo decirle que gozara de su compañía. ¡Afortunado usted!

Change of Scenery
Sounds like the move to a hotel opened up taking advantage of the local cultural opportunities in a broader way. Rather than just touching on the people watching and spending a couple of hours with the bands you got to really immerse yourself in the experience - might not have happened this way had you been more involved with the host family. So a bit of both gave this trip some complexity that you had not planned - more to talk about later :)

Ahhh... Paragliding
parapente - like I knew the word... Now I do :) Totally amazing stuff comes to us when we are open to experience them. Who would have known a gliding club would have been part of the deal? I am sure they are as thrilled as you are. Me, I would stand and watch, keyword "watch", you all take flight. I am sure the sights are terrifically beautiful and can't wait to see the pictures...
