Big fun in the big city! Excellent entry. Brought back many memories for me. It always amazed me that the 'land of smiles,' with such sweet people had a national sport that regularly required on the spot life saving techniques. Enough blood for all! Stay safe!
Whoo-hoo! Hi Johaan: We got your postcard today including the photo on elephant-back at the Golden Triangle in Thailand. So glad you guys enjoyed the experience! Can't wait to hear more about your adventures. We love looking at your blog photos. Enjoy the rest of your travels. Karen and Jeremy
Lost in History "KK" Get Johaan out of there before he becomes a convert to the old,old time religion and ancient history. By the way, there's a word I've long forgotten that describes the contemplation of life etc. by the reclining Buddha as he watches a lily? sprouting from his stomach...I used to use it on day-dreaming employees.Maybe you can revive it for me. Love the blogs....JL
Hungry for spiders Truly a land of contrasts. Amazing how warm some people can be to a complete stranger and how utterly attrocious some can be to their own countrymen. Travel well!
It is fantastic when teachers experience the world The wealth of knowledge you learn on the road can be shared in the classroom. You have some fantastic photos. I will have to read a few more of your blogs. S-21 is a heart stopper. Our visit is still vivid in our minds.
Hey bud, like I said earlier, I really enjoy hearing about your travels. War has always been a fascination for me, so to read your tales of the tunnels and so on are awesome. I look forward to hearing in more detail when you get home!
Are you being fitted for a Tux? You're looking good. I enjoy your blog, it's educational, as well as
entertaining. Love the pictures too.
Take care of yourself.
Hugs,
JoAnn
Amazing Asia Fantastic stuff! Nothing like S.E. Asia and a little snake blood to put things in perspective.
Your Dodgers with out Kemp have really come back to earth.
Lovin' it! Keep your blog posts comin', Johaan. I am thoroughly enjoying your 'reads'. Just back from the UK. Pretty exhausted, but in a good way. Disfruta de tu estancia en Asia. Hasta luego, P.
Thanks for the memories Hey Johaan, Thanks for the memories! We first traveled to Saigon (aka HCMC) then up the Mekong River system via boat to Cambodia (PP and Angkor Wat) in 2007. We then returned to explore the central highlands, HaNoi and HaLong Bay, and UNESCO site Luang Prahbang, in PDR Lao in 2009. In February 2013, we go to Burma (Myanmar). And unlike you, I do love Pho for breakfast! Thank you for sharing your travel log. I'm so glad I am on your list of recipients. Happy travels, Ann Lippincott
I like Chile.. Your article is very interesting.I'm Ecuadorian, I went to Chile in 2004. I would like some pictures of "Cafe con Piernas", I imagine that decoration is very original jejeje...For the next time, you should try the typical drink the name is "Pisco sour" or something like that. It has sweet and acid taste at the same time, Pico sour is prepare with Pisco, this is typical wine in Chile. It is delicious and I can recommend for everybody.I took a city tour from Santiago to Valparaiso, and Vina del Mar, it is incredible to see the grapes farm around the road.I walked around the beach in Vina, this place is very quiet during the day, well I went in August, that time is very cold because there is a winter season overthere. Also, I saw a big sealions close at the beach of Vina,I ate a deliciuos fish call cangriu o something like that.It was delicious in the restaurant with sight to the beach, now remember that place, and I'm hungry.......I will to travel one more time because Chile has different things to know it
Surviving Hi John,
Sorry about the delay in responding to your comment. We have survived since returning, the steaks definitely aren't the same though. We will work on a Xmas present, I think that would be splendid. Good project for us.
Thank you also for the "housewarming" assistance! We were honestly on our last dollars trying to get the place liveable. Can't wait to have you over for a visit soon.
Mendoza Hi Vero,
Hope its not too late. The bike tours are offered up everywhere, just see a tour agency downtown or speak to the front desk at your hostel. I stayed at Hostel Lao and HIGHLY recommend it. Bottomless wine after 8pm, a fireplace and very nice hosts. Buena suarte,
Johaan
Hi, just read a bit of your blog, and I will be traveling to Mendoza by myself and don't really know how you did the trip of going on bikes, visiting the vineyards and stuff. so if you could help me out with some info of where you stayed, what kind of tour or soemthing you got on to see the vineyards and the whole bike thing it would be awesome!
Thanks a lot
