My Father came to visit me last week - which was good. I have been here a year already, and am already getting used to the constant traffic violations, to seeing almost accidents, seeing countless guys peeing on the side of the road. So it was good to have someone from back home to point out all these things a new. One of my weekly adventures is catching a taxi. Where I live, on the outskirts of Beijing, we have no metered taxis. Instead we have black taxis - where you have to negotiate the price - ten kuai to go into Changping, thirty to be taken to the nearest subway station (about forty minutes away) or up to hundred if you want to go the airport or on a day trip.
