Looks like a great Galapagos journey Hello Dianne, sorry for the late reply I hadn't seen you post until now.
This cruise was aboard the MV Santa Cruz, a larger cruise vessel (90 passenger capacity), 4 days/3 nights. We booked it in Puerto Ayora a week before - saves heaps compared to booking months in advance (but you run the risk of them having no berths left - choose your season carefullly). Cost was around US$1800 for us both, from memory. But this was half of the usual cost. Hope this helps.
Heddon Hi Ross,
I wouldn't quite call it paradise as it has it's drawbacks but overall it's been a wonderful experience, seeing things we will never see aywhere else. We had to cancel our planned horseback ride today to see a volcano as it has been raining all night and the route will be very muddy and unpleasant. Nevermind, still plenty we cab see around here at Puerto Villamil on Isabela.
Wonderful guys Thanks for sharing your adventure. I could feel the heat, salty air and atmosphere of it all. It all seems so close to where you're staying - love the volcano, tortoises and everything!!!
jealous HI Naomi and Jim,
just a quick one to say congratulations on gettting over there and having a break, altough I don't know about the "doing work". I ma so havppy that you are both having a nice hard earned break. Quito sounds nad looks to be amazing altough it looks to be a bit cold????
I am really enjoying reading your blogs and wish i could be there travelling as well. Can't wait to hear about the Galapagos!! Take care.
You're staying in a rabid hotel? Hi, Love the blog and it takes me back the 23 years or so since I was there. The old squares, probably a Plaza de Armas, are usually the best places to hang out, but I also enjoyed having a cafe con leche down at Amazonas. It all looks lovely, and we're very jealous!
Brad
PS If you want some real excitement take one of the little train / buses to the coast.
Jim and Naomi's big trip to the Galapagos Islands (via New York city).
The plan is we fly to New York, spend a day in the Big Apple, then we fly to Quito, Ecuador. We have two nights there (our only chance to see Quito up ion the Andes), then fly Thursday to Baltra, Galapagos. Two weeks there, including a 4-night boat cruise to some of the islands, the rest of the time island hopping under our own steam. Hope to sepnd a few days at Floreana and Isabella.
Then we fly back to NYC via Guayaquil, Ecuador's main economic city, near the coast. A week in NYC being a tourist (and visiting Naomi'... full info
