Ok so after all this driving we needed a full days rest. This campsite we were at was magnificent, there are no fences between you and the animals, it's nature at it's most rarest state. So we all read, slept, ate and that's about it. The sunrise and sunset is amazing but everyone was so chilled. In the evening after supper we just sat, a hyena came into the campsite, badgers was there everything was so relaxed. So we all piled into bed and soon fast asleep. But the nite was yet over for us. We have no watches with us so we have no idea what the time is. But sometime during the nite we were visited by an elephant. The next thing I have Alex waking me up telling me to be quiet, and ... read more

After a long and noisy night we were all up early and enjoyed the sunrise with a cup of coffee and a homemade crunchy. We packet up quickly and we where on our way in no time ready for the days events. The drive to our camp was not to bad but when it did get a little bumpy, the Land Rover powered through it with no problems at all. Upon arrival we were presented by an amazing view of the khwai river and all its resident which included hippos, open bill stalks, giraffe, a large herd of impala and elephant that happened to be wading through the river. We set up camp and enjoyed a bottle of Meerlust Merlot and ate while the sun went down. But the night wasn't over just yet, as we watched ... read more

After a very noisy night in the town of Maun we were up early. We decided to spend the day catching up on laundry and just relaxing as well as replenishing food stocks. We had a scrumptious breakfast and decided to see what Maun had to offer. The plan was to do a scenic flight over the Okavango delta later that afternoon. Once we finished stocking up we went to Wimpy for a bite to eat and to use their free Wi-fi. At 3.30 was when our flight was booked for. We arrive and paid and are hustled through the airport, onto the taxi and to the plane, meet the pilot who seems to be a cool guy. The plane is small, 7 seats, but it's big in the right places. A few of us anxious ... read more

Kubu to Maun Kubu island was a amazing experience like the 360 degree view from the top of the island , the way you can see the curvature of the earth because it is so flat and best of all was the view from the toilet which was magnificent but unfortunately the campsites are too close together and the toilet is crap. The drive back to the main road was very long and dusty but it isn't just dust its "HOLY CRAP what did i do to deserve this" dust. Once we arrived found the main road the drive was calm and thankfully at 120KM/H unlike the 20KM/H on the dirt road. The main road was at least tarred but anybody that was driving behind could see nothing because of the huge dust trail that NASA ... read more

Baines boababs to Kubu Island. After we realized what a long drive it was to get to Baines Boababs we decided that and early start to the day was needed. We were up at around 5 am and watched a spectacular sunrise. There was toilet facities and a shower. All outdoors and open. Nothing like getting in touch with mother nature. Once all was done and we had breakfast made by Adrian we hit the road. But first off to see these boababs that are so famous. What a spectacle they are. Their sheer size was unbelievable. I mean HOLY CRAP!!! It was breath taking and nothing like I have ever seen before. So after a few photo's we were off on our epic trip down to Kubu island but we soon had a problem- limited ... read more

Khama rhino sanctuary to baines baobabs We were all up early to watch the amazing sunset with a cup of coffee and a rusk around a newly lit fire courtesy of our resident boy scout Adrian. We decided to head out for a morning drive to find a few of the 46 resident rhinos. We saw a number of different species of animals which included a couple of black back jackals, a few zebra and as usual impala(the happy meal in the animal kingdom) and as you have probably noticed there was no mention of rhino in that sentence because we had not seen any which had been quite disappointing . We returned to camp, packed up and hit the road. After a long drive through soft sand we reached our destination but we first had ... read more

September holiday 2012 Day 1 Home to Khama rhino sanctuary Woke up at 4:30 as we still had a few things to pack. We were on the road before 5:30. The drive to the border was long and fairly uneventful. The car was handling the heavy trailer really well. At the border on the south African side was simple and no hassle and quick. The Botswana border was a fairly different story. There were a few people and not enough forms for people to fill in. But after 30 mins or so we were through and just in the nick of time as there was a large group of people to arrive just behind us. As you are about to clear the border they want to check if you are bringing fruit and uncooked meat with. ... read more
