Woke up and it's raining but 77f (25c) not heavily. The three of us met at Starbucks for breaky. Gary has decided to assemble his bike and get going. The Intercontinental Hotel were unable to extend the deal I got thru Hotwire of US$120 per night. It was going to cost him US$240!! GB & I decided to get our local SIM cards and were directed a few blocks East then North to a T-Mobile outlet. This was about 8.30. Got to the shop and it wasn't going to open till 10.00am!! We went for a wander to find alternative. No luck and we were lost. By now it was raining quite heavily so we went into a coffee shop that had free WiFi. After a long flight,13.5 hours we arrived in LA. The plane an Airbus 380 was full. An number of young families and little babies meant sleep was difficult!! Entering USA through Customs/Home Security was a snip. A number of sniffer dogs had me worried as James had only recently returned from Amsterdam and I am using his ruck sack etc!! But it was quick. Short walk to the American Airlines departure and again through more security. Long lines but eventually cleared. Walking to the departure lounge met GB. He had arrived safetly from Melbourne a little earlier. Boarded on time and three Aussies in a row!! The other guy is Gary. Sydney Airport day of departure. Nervous as hell but three coffees and a couple of scotchs are helping. Patricia arrived on time and James accompanied us to the Airport. Good timing as just after the main rush and we got to check-in in good time. Unloaded the luggage and Patricia asked if I had everything - shit tickets and passport!!! Last saw them on the lounge!! Heart starts to race but being organised I had put them in the back pack. Phew! Then some breaky! Coffee and snail - yum. Said our goodbyes and off thru Customs/emigration/security. Time for a scotch. At duty free they had samples of Chivas Regal 12 & 18 year old. Had to try a couple of times to decide. Bought a sml litre bottle of 18yo. Just 24 hours before I leave for the 1st part of this adventure. It has seemed as though this day would never arrive, but here we are - packed and just on weight limit!! Six Sleeps to go. Joe 'indeed' Goff one of the Aussies on the USA trip, flew out to USA this morning. All systems are go. Passports, tickets, cash etc are all ready.
