As we were now half way through the trip most people were starting to run out of clean clothes to wear so it was decided that we needed to have a laundry day. Initially we were going to use the facilities at the hotel but after some advice from the main desk we were advised to head to a proper launderette. It turns out that the process was a little more confusing than first expected and we needed the help of the person running the launderette, it was pretty pricey to get everything we needed as well! When it came to the drying we thought one dryer would be enough however, it was nowhere enough and we needed 6 dryers going to finally dry all the clothes. Once all the laundry was done everyone else wanted ... read more

Today we were going zip lining which was one of the things I was most looking forward to doing. We started the day with a good breakfast with a lot choices available. As we were about to leave Grant announced that Jack would not be going because he thought that he would be too heavy for the zip lining, I was certain this was not the case as I would not have booked it for him if he could not go on it. On the way we got stuck in a traffic jam as there were some roadworks going on meaning I had to call ahead to let the guides know that we were going to be late, thankfully we were the only group completing the course that day and they were fine with waiting. Once ... read more

Typically when I woke up in the morning the rain had finally stopped which was very irritating especially as when leaving Montreal I saw the theme park! It was my turn to drive the car again and I had a very easy drive to the American border after taking one wrong turn along the way. Sadly I chose the wrong lane of traffic when queuing to get through border control and it took a very long time before we made it to the front. We were entering the USA at the Vermont border and the further we travelled through Vermont the more beautiful it became; this was somewhere that I could very easily live in. To get to Stowe we needed to cross through a mountain but the closer we go to this road we could ... read more

North America » Canada » Quebec » MontrĂ©al October 22nd 2016

The day started off with Grant coming into my room and whispering whether we were still going to the theme park. I was amazed to see Grant as he had been really drunk when he got back the previous night and did not think for a second he would still want to go. Unfortunately the weather had still not got any better and even I did not want to go to when it was constantly raining and so we had to take a hit on the money that we had already paid for the theme park. In the main part of the hotel they had an excellent breakfast with a variety of different foods available all for $5 each. While eating Grant said that he wanted to go in search of the underground city that was ... read more

When I woke up it was still was raining and this would be something that would last the whole day annoyingly. The only saving grace was that for most of the day we would be driving so it did not matter too much that the weather was terrible but I did have a bad feeling that the theme park would not be happening the next day. The drive itself was actually quite boring and there was not anything interesting to see along the way; not that we would have been able to see much anyway! I did manage to drop my phone under the seat and I did not get it back until Grant made his first left turn once entering downtown Montreal. My first impression of Montreal was not a great one to be honest ... read more

I woke up in the morning to the strong smell of weed, this was something I thought that I could smell throughout the night as well. Alex told me that he and Grant had purchased some the previous evening and that I should go and deliver this to him. I went up to Grant's room and he wanted nothing to do with it and tried to flush it down the toilet however, on the first attempt it came straight back up and he had to cover it in toilet paper for it to go down! It also turned out that Grant had paid another $15 to an uber taxi which had already been paid for, the taxi driver probably couldn't believe his luck! No-one really had much nice things to say about the club that they ... read more

North America » Canada » Ontario » Toronto October 19th 2016

It was quite an early start as we need to be at CN tower by 11 and it was another lengthy walk to get there, it was not a trip with public transport use it would appear! I must admit that I was quite nervous about doing the edgewalk now that the day had finally come; before that I had watched the videos and though it would be a breeze. I think everyone else was feeling the same way as well. On arrival the people running the edgewalk were great and helped everyone to feel a bit more at ease and nobody failed the breathalyzer test either! The guide who would be leading the walk was also great and he clearly loved his job and after doing it who wouldn't. The view of Toronto and the ... read more

North America » Canada » Ontario » Niagara Falls October 18th 2016

It was a fairly early start today as we wanted to spend the day at Niagara Falls and then head into Toronto from there. The breakfast at the hotel was pretty good and even had its own waffle maker which was neat. While eating Alex made a great comment about being inside Jake which was hilarious. The car seemed even bigger once I was sitting behind the wheel and typically I took a wrong turn straight away. After while though I got used to the size of the car, it helped that the roads were massive and it was essentially one highway to the border. The scenery had been great the whole journey through New York state and this continued for the rest of this journey. On the American side of Niagara falls we went through ... read more

North America » United States » New York » Syracuse October 17th 2016

Today was our last day in Boston, I felt quite sad to be leaving as it was an amazing city with excellent culture and history and I had enjoyed a great couple of days there. Today was the day that we picked up the car that we would be using for the next couple of weeks and it was another lengthy walk down at Atlantic avenue following the red brick road for one last time! The car was an absolute monster and was much bigger than the car I had driven the last time I was in the states and felt fairly apprehensive about my first drive. Initially I thought we might be able to have the layout of the car as 2 in front, middle and back but this was not possible and had to ... read more

I woke up feeling very hungover a feeling that was shared with everyone, it had been a heavy drinking session the night before. Today we were heading down to Fenway Park to see where the Boston Red Soxs play baseball and to continue the theme of the trip so far we decided that we would walk there. Jake really wanted to get a Five guys and there happened to be one along the way, it was really good and went a long way to ridding me of my hangover! At Fenway Park we found a really cool bar called Bleachers which had a view out onto the pitch which would have been even better had it been a game day. They did have the American football on and the atmosphere was brilliant with every getting involved ... read more
