This is the place I am originally from although I am living in a wertern country now. Love Haizhu Wholesale Market, bought a lot from the market for friends and colleges when I visited the city for holiday last time. The Dongfang Hotel was really an up-market hotel when I was little.
Shaiman Island Back in the day, Chinese were NOT allowed on Shaiman island. The "foreigners" (Caucasians that is) were allowed anywhere.
But that was the past when bigotry was more common everywhere.
Just a quick one Just a quick note too add my thanks for this most superb blog. I have read every blog since it's birth and have enjoyed the detailed 1st class logs and trip entries.
I'm a 25yo Male that hoping to travel Europe and USA in early 2007 and the blog has just made me feel so envious of your trip.
Keep up the good work and now looking foward very much for the European leg. Where about in the UK will you be heading for?
Great pictures. Glad to see photos of a basic non-tourist city. Was there 20 years ago. Big changes. I guess people stared when you took pictures in the market, much as if you would, if you saw someone in our supermarket snapping photos, there.
I'm so envious... of your travels. I'm enjoying your trip reports and photos. The Regent in Singapore looks fantastic. What a lovely hotel room. Sounds like you are having a great time. Happy Travels!

Tex Mex It was wonderful to have you around Jacob, remember you are always welcome to come back! I had a fabulous time with you :) Discovered a lot of things about Dallas myself!...Hope you enjoyed your stay here, did you enjoy the Tex Mex food?
Dallas mansion! It was such a surprise to learn about the country festival they were having on Southfork that day of our visit...I am certainly really please with my Elvis bag, I think it was such a fantastic idea to make a LP into a record :)...you know, just yesterday I learned a lady from my school has this gorgeous poster of Dallas TV show. Guess where she got it? She was fortunate enough to assist to the Dallas anniversary reunion in 2004 (the one we learnt about from the museum!) I thought it was such a coincidence...
24 year old Swedish expatriate who has lived for the past four years in the UK and France but who will now go away on a two months graduation trip (actually double graduation trip...;) around the world for a well-needed holiday. My two months trip will take me to countries like Canada, US, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Belgium and the UK, and I will have the pleasure of doing it in first class with Star Alliance!! So it will be an absolutely fantastic experience, like nothing I have ever done before.
Enjoy my blog!!
