JHarrington - Jesse Harrington

Jesse Harrington I'm a recent college graduate infected with the travel bug and a curiosity for learning about other places by experiencing them firsthand. I'll be pursuing a certification for teaching English as a foreign language starting in mid-November 2008 in Seville, Spain and proceed from there. The purpose of this blog is to record my experiences and post pictures for friends and family.

Coming Updates Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Seville
Hey all, Sorry for not posting in the last week or so, I've been busy with the course and with travel, and I had one hell of a cold. However, there will be updates very very soon about my first two weeks in the CELTA course, my jaunt around Seville last Sunday, and my previous weekend, which included a trip to Cordoba, a place I've been dying to see for five years! Moreover, I'm going to put some pictures up on another site and will post a link to them in the posts. Anyway, sorry for the lack of writing, I'll [View Full Entry]

It may not have been the best cooked food. The turkey may have looked like processed meat and tasted more like SPAM than turkey. The mash potatoes may have been the instant powder variety, and the vegetables may have been frozen, but dammit we gave it our all and we enjoyed every minute of it. Here are some pictures from our "traditional" feast. Two Americans and Brit, thankful for their time together in a beautiful foreign city. Cheers and enjoy: [View Full Entry]

Although I'm posting about my experiences last Sunday, today is Thanksgiving back in the States. Therefore, I want to wish my family and friends to happiest of happy Thanksgivings, and I'll post about my entire first week in the CELTA course tomorrow afternoon. I hope you're all well, and Nina, I love you. - Jesse Sunday - November 23, 2008 I woke up this morning to the bright blue sky of Seville and the ringing of church bells. They echoed throughout the city, calling the faithful the morning's mass and me to the bright, sunlit terrace of the hostel. The beds [View Full Entry]

Saturday - November 22, 2008 After spending the night out with Josh, Rob, Tasha, Duncan, and their friends Richard and Patrick, we made it back to their flat around four in the morning. I packed my bag, took a shower and got ready to head out for the train station at 5. After saying goodbye, with quite a heartfelt one from Rob, everyone bid me good luck and went off to bed. As five rolled around I stepped out into the drizzle of the early morning and walked out into the orange-glow of the street lamps. It was a cold [View Full Entry]

Away to Spain Europe » Spain » Navarre » Pamplona
My first day in Spain was a rather interesting and surreal experience, perhaps because I was deliriously exhausted from lack of sleep. The trip started well on the flight over. My seat-mate was a man from the Canary Islands named Michael, who spoke very little English. Combined with my lack of Spanish (though to my surprise I remembered quite a lot of helpful words - thanks Nina for all those conversations you had on the phone with your mom, lol) we turned out to have a very interesting conversation, full of many gesticulations to get our points across. It turned out [View Full Entry]
