Native art carving in art market in Coyhaique. These were last minute phots I took in Coyhaique
Before showing you some of the photos I took while at Torres del Paine in Chile, Iīve included a couple a last minute shots of the art market in downtown Coyhaiqie. The weather in Parque Nacional Las Torres del Paine was miserabņe the first two days so I donīt have much in the way of photos. I hope you enjoy the ones that did come out somewhat OK. Ventisquero Colgante
Ventisquero Colgante
Leaving the Parque Nacional Queulat and the Ventisquero Colgante. I didnīt want to leave so soon.
The Carretera Austral is a dirt road that extends for more than 500 miles from Chaiten to Coyhaique. The scenery is stunning and the region some of the wildest countryside Iīve ever passed through. I wish I had been able to stop and take better photos. I took most of these while the van I was riding in was moving. Magnificent Miles! [View Full Entry]

Crash, Boom, Rumble as the huge chunks of ice break off the glacier.
Imagine a huge glacier sitting in a cup and hanging over the edge of a 2000 foot cliff and you have Ventisquero Colgante. This place is cool! pardon the pun. [View Full Entry]

Puerto Montt

 South America » Chile
Puerto Montt is an important port city in the south of Chile. Although I didnīt take many photos here, I did catch the sun setting on Volcano Villarica. Puerto Montt is the hub for the exportation of the south of Chileīs contraversial salmon farming industry. Below is a discussion of the salmon farming industry by our neighbors from British Columbia. If you bought a salmon fillet in the supermarket recently or ordered one in a restaurant, chances are it was born in a plastic tray in Port McNeill or a place just like it. Instead of streaking through the ocean or [View Full Entry]

Valparaiso is a port city that begs you to explore its winding and hilly streets. The backstreets are filled with the small-town spirit of days gone by. I spent one afternoon just roaming the hills. I was impressed by the friendliness of the people. In these backstreets and hills lies a charm only found in small towns. People actually say hello to you in passing. I stopped to talk with artisits, gals in bakeries and old ladies. Here is a brief history of the city of Valparaiso with photos I took during my stay on January 14th, 2005. Iīve just spent 3 wonderful days in the port city of Valparaiso. I hope you enjoy the photos. My first day in Valparaiso I took a 2-hour side trip with two gals (American, Finnish) to the beautiful seaside town of Isla Negra. Located at Isla Negra is the house of Pablo Neruda. By doing a travel expose on the life of Pablo Neruda please be clear that I am in no way saying that Communism is the way to freedom. Despite his political beliefs however, I admire his spirit and words and have thoroughly enjoyed recalling his life. Here is a [View Full Entry]
