Leaving the rugged climes of Southern Patagonia I arrived in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche. This city sits on the banks of Lake Huapi and is very close to National Parks Huapi and Lanin. The architecture is influenced by the Swiss Alps as the area is a booming ski mecca in winter (May to September). I had the chance to catch some intersting festival activities and do alot of catching up on simple kicking back and relaxing at the beach. Hope you enjoy the photos.

These 1960s Ford Falcons are everywhere. It seems like they are cool and afforable much like a VW bug was in the US 20 years ago.

Theater in the Street.

What would a trip to Latin America be without some good ole street art. These guys were a cross between kiddie music, vaudeville, punk, and street carnival. I couldnt help from laughing as they kept speaking spanish with a very strong gringo (US, Euro) accent. As if US travellers are goofs. Many are Im sorry to say!

Andean Dance in the Plaza

This ribbon dance is quite colorful. If one person makes a mistake the whole operation is a failure. I love the idea of unity and coordination.

Dance of the Virgin

This was very colorful also. The festival of the virgin is tradtional to many parts of Latin America. I rememebr in Ecuador it was accompanied by fireworks and hoopla and of course dancing.
