After my Colombo trip, I only had 2 day rest in manila and I was back to NAIA again… this time, bound to Bangkok, Thailand for a 4-day, 3nights holiday. ( so this is the life of a jetsetter) Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok is also nice though incomparable to HK and changi airport ( awarded 1st and 2nd best airport in the world for 2007) but at least much nicer and modern than NAIA I. Since we, me and my girl-officemate, are doing DIY (Do-it-Yourself tour) and no one will pick us up in the airport we ended to get a metered taxi to bring us to the hotel we have reserved through the internet. For 500Baht (around 1000pesos), we arrived in Hotel De Moc. We were welcomed by a gay receptionist wearing a traditional thai ... read more

Trip to Colombo: July 6-12, 2008 Transit to Singapore via Singapore Airlines on July 6. One night stay in hotel in Singapore. July 7 - my trip going to Colombo. Philippines is 2 and half hours ahead of Sri Lanka time. DAY 1 IN SRI LANKA The hotel transportation picked me up in the airport. On the way, I have observed that Colombo is just like one of the Philippines provinces. The roads, the houses, the train, buildings and the people make me feel am back on the 70s. On the other hand, it’s nice to see men and women walking in the streets wearing their traditional dress (sari for the women) on different colors. I feel am in a déjà vu seeing some Filipino women wearing Maria Clara in the Philippine streets. That’s what’s nice ... read more

Macau - Las Vegas of the East. Combination of western and Chinese culture. This was a colony before of Portugal so most of the buildings here have Portuguese touch. The streets and government establishments and buildings are in Portuguese names. Day 1 Arrival in Macau (Nov 12, 2007) After an hour and 35 minutes in the air, we finally arrived in Macau International Airport. It’s not so big airport but is nice and clean. From the airport, we took a taxi going to our hotel in the city center. It’s good that I have a Chinese character of the name of the hotel which I showed to the driver as he doesn’t understand even a bit of English. In about 10 minutes, we arrived in Metropole Hotel along Avenida de Praia Grande. It is more beautiful ... read more

Legaspi City, Albay, Bicol (Sept 16, 2007) - the land of Mayon Volcano, the almost perfectly-shaped cone and the most active volcano in the Philippines. This volcano had recorded over 50 eruptions, the first on 1616 and the most recent last 2006. While on my way to Legaspi, seeing from the top, the lava trail is still obvious as this just erupted on the fourth quarter of 2006. I realized how cruel the eruption had been especially to the residents near it. Anyway, when we landed in Legaspi airport, I get confused as the baggage will only be picked up manually. You have to be keen if the baggage men already bring out your bags. At least the crews are strict in checking if you got the right bag unlike in other domestic airports. Good thing ... read more

August 10th 2007

Finally, I had been in Palawan - said to be the last frontier of the Philippines. Last Aug 10 -13, Me and Lorenz , my travel buddy headed to Puerto Princesa, Palawan. We were so lucky that on that day, Aug 10, the sun was already shining after a week’s typhoon. The adventure starts.. On the day we arrived , just outside at the airport, I saw the stand post of Puerto pension where my name was written. This is our sundo who will bring us to the hotel. Al, the driver accompanied us to the Van and we waited for few minutes for the other guest of the hotel. We were full in the van. Hmmm, I was thinking the hotel must be good that many of the tourists chose it. It took us 10 ... read more

March 16th 2007

Last March 16, my friend Froila and I headed to Singapore. My other friend Nhuj from China followed us to Singapore the next day. Singapore is a very small country maybe just as big as Quezon City (one city of metro manila) with a population of only 4.8 million people making it very manageable. Singapore also had several ethnic groups of Indian, Malay and Chinese. What I love about this country: 1. Transportation system - Singapore has a very nice transport system. Taking the MRT is very convenient. It has a link to all places and shopping malls in Singapore without getting lost. Our EZ link card which we put a credit of $20 lasted in our almost five days stay just for taking the ride in MRT and the bus. This card can also be ... read more
