Hi all Lyndsay here! I am anxious to type this last blog because that means that we are coming home tomorrow and that is bad news. I heard snow is on teh horizon - how terrible. Again, I apologize for my spelling, the keyboards here are funny and seems to be missing some of the keys. In any event, here is our last 2 days in a nutshell ... On Thursday morning we left Levanto and hopped a train to MIlan, then to Stresa. The train to Milan put 6 people into smaller cars - almost like sleeping cars, but with [View Full Entry]

Happy day all- When I have to start out by apologizing that there will be no photos today. We are working from a 10 year old computer and there is no UBS ports. The most unfortunate thing is that the photos we got today are the most stunning yet! Unbelievable sea and cliff views. We promise we will add many photos tomorrow when we are in a more high tech town. Anyways we started off the day with a train ride to Riamaggioire, the first town in the Cinque Terra. The Cinque Terre is techincally a national park and it consists [View Full Entry]

Hi all For once, this is Lyndsay starting the blog. This will be an early blog tonight both because we have little to share and because our hostel internet is shutting down in 2 hours. It is really expensive to get on the internet here. Over $1.00 per 10 minutes. So we awoke this morningto rain! of course. We left the walled city of Lucca and grabebd a train to Levanto. Well, still raining here when we arrived. However, before I jump to the day in Levanto, let me regress to what is arguably the 2nd most emabrassing moment of this [View Full Entry]

Hello all- Well today we went in search of a vineyard in hopes of a tour and a couple of tastings. We were looking to head to a town called Monte Carlo which sounded like the gateway to several vineyards in the hills. Unfortunately the train schedule did not match our schedule so we were forced to take a train to a different city called Pescia just down the road 30 miles. We werent sure what to expect as the city was not listed in any of our guidebooks and the train station was quite small. Anyways being up for an [View Full Entry]

Florence

 Europe » Italy
Good afternoon all- We were able to add some pics so you can check out our travels for the last couple of days. Made it up to Florence today, slept in after all of our walking yesterday and got on a high speed train to the Tuscany region. We had reserved another night at a hostel in Florence, although this one is much different than the one in Roma. More of a college dorm feel. We feel really old!!! Were doing laundry and emailing while the disco is filled with college kids. I just feel out of place because I dont [View Full Entry]

Hello all- The title pretty much sums up our day. We hoped on a subway at 8 am this morning in route to the Vatican. Starting at the museum we walked, and walked, and walked until we ended up back at our hostel. I am guessing 7-8 miles is a conservative estimate. Lots of interesting things along the way including a great tour of the vatican. Iàm not into old artsy stuff, but it was pretty dang cool. The best thing I learned was all of the pranks that were played by artists and popes. Michelagelo (not the ninja turtle) painted [View Full Entry]

Good afternoon all- Made it to Roma today, sad to leave Malta, but excited to start a new country. Both of us were very nervous to get to Italy due to the language differences. However we quickly adjusted and realized that pointing and nodding has no language barriers. We were welcomed with some rain sprinkles but we thought we would head out from our hostel in search of the Colosseo (Colliesiem). We stumbled upon it after winding down some back alleys and a stop for real Italian pizza. We wandered around the Colosseo this afternoon and Lynday kept getting mad at [View Full Entry]

Hi all- Just finished up dinner and saw a computer in the back of the restaurant so we thought we should check in. We spent the day up at the Blue Lagoon, a sheltered inlet at the north of Malta that has crystal blue waters and tiny private sand beaches. The trip over was a bit crazy as we had to take a ferry to the lagoon and the waves in the sea were 2-3 meters (4-9 feet for all you Americans!). We escaped sea sickness and enjoyed the sun, wind, and salt air while reading books and being annoyed by [View Full Entry]
