It is amazing how much energy it takes to go through all of your things and judge them. Are they worth keeping, storing and lugging around? Are they worth selling at a moving sale or should they just be donated? Our past Saturday was full of these questions, all leading up to one big event: our Moving Sale. We decided to hold the sale on one of the busiest street dates in San Francisco. The Bay to Breakers. Around 75,000 registered people along with most of the city, take the 7 mile hike through the SF in a sea of drunkenness [View Full Entry]

Treasures from the Sale
The Crowd at Our Sale
Ronnie and Friends

This week was the week of telling everyone of our move...including everyone else at work. It has been hard for me as I love the people at my job so very much that they have become like my family. Most reactions have included: "WHAT?!" "You can just do that?" "I am extremely saddened for losing you and jealous and happy all at once" "When can I visit?!" "I wish I could do that" and "You guys are so inspiring." Each time we tell people, it gets easier and easier, but my heart strings get pulled at every person's reaction. We can't [View Full Entry]

Well, the contract finally came to us. Apparently, the retired lawyer/manager of the place was having internet issues. (Does not bode well for us if we are uploading freelance design from that location...) But, we finally got it. I opened it immediately and read every line. I found two things wrong with it. The first was that the rent stated in the contract was for $650 when the owner said the price was $625. The second issue was that there was a whole section about how utilities will be split at the end of each month with the manager...we were under [View Full Entry]

We just received word this morning, that the man staying at Eleanor's place is leaving in mid-June which opens up the casita for us in July. HOORAY! This is the place that our heart has called out for the most and it looks like it was meant to be. The waiting was the hardest part. So we will be living in Casa Mamey in San Miguel de Allende. Tomorrow we mail our deposit check, and this week we tell our bosses we are leaving for sure. When I read the email out loud from Eleanor today...both Ronnie and I got a [View Full Entry]

Waiting is one of the hardest things to do...especially when you are excited about something. We have been waiting for about a week now on the rental contract from our new possible landlord in San Miguel. She has a gringo manager who is a retired lawyer and is going to write our contract up...but I think he is on Mexican time down there. I have become addicted to checking my gmail account every half hour to see if I received any emails from them. Once we have secured our apartment, then I can feel secure about things like booking airfare, figuring [View Full Entry]

Every year, Ronnie and I take turns being in charge of Valentine's Day. Last year Ronnie took me to a lovely dinner at one of our favorite restaurants...this year, I took him to Paris. We were already in London for the week, so I booked us (way in advanced) the earliest and last train to Paris. So needless to say, we had to have a wake up call at 4:00am and a taxi at 4:30. They way I told Ronnie about our adventure was by having him open a present, that was a mini guide book to the city of light. [View Full Entry]

Moulin Rouge!
Busted
Foggy French Morning

It has been over a month since we have been back from our European adventure, but I wanted to share it with you, it's highlights and how it affected us. I was last in London when I was about 14 and I was with a group at the time (People to People Student Ambassadors to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales) so I was looking forward to a bit of freedom. Ronnie had never been to Europe and has always loved everything British, so we knew this was going to be great. We got a wonderful deal online for 7 nights in [View Full Entry]

At the gates
Waiting for the tube

Ronnie and I have found a couple great apartments in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for a fraction of what we pay in SF and after a lot of talking and planning...we have decided to go for 6 months to live a simpler life and get back on track to what it means to just be. No more rat race for us! At least not for a while. We have been slowly telling friends, family and even our bosses of our planned trip and all are excited for us and amazed that we are going to do it. There is a [View Full Entry]

For some reason, I always want to travel. All my life. I remember being a kid and traveling with my parents to Hawaii, Mexico and all over the United States. When I was 14 I was lucky enough to travel as a student ambassador to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This was the trip that allowed to me to become who I am today. I was able to stay with home stay families, attend school, learn traditional dances and visit many historical landmarks. As I became older, I traveled to Japan and adored my time there. (I have been back 3 [View Full Entry]
