Well, we made it home safe and sound. It's hard to believe we've been gone for two weeks - it went way too fast! On Friday, our last full day, we got an early start and we were through the West gate by 8:30. Our first stop was Gibbon Falls to take some pictures. Next, we stopped at the Norris Geyser Basin and did a 2 mile loop around all the geysers there. When you are driving up, you can see steam coming up every which way and it looks like there might be some fires! After that stop, we headed [View Full Entry]

We've been staying in the Grand Teton National Park the last four nights without internet access, so we've been out of touch with getting updates on the blog.We stayed two nights at Flagg Ranch and two nights at Colter Bay. The second campground was right near Jackson Lake with fantastic views of the Teton's. The Tetons are just breath-taking, and unlike any mountains we've ever seen! We've done a lot of hiking and sightseeing the last four days, but the highlight was definitely Jenny Lake. We took a ferry across the lake and hiked up to Hidden Falls, then on to [View Full Entry]

After our tiring 3 hour hike to Angel's Landing, we decided to take the shuttle to the lodge for lunch. After some souvenier shopping and refilling the water bottles, we talked the boys into one more short hike to the Emerald Pools. After we finished that hike it was about 3:30 and HOT, so we went back to camp and went swimming. This was the first day we used the air conditioning in the RV. Saturday morning we got up at 6:30 to get a couple last short hikes in before leaving for Salt Lake City. We hiked to Weeping Rock [View Full Entry]

We chose the hike up to Angel's Landing as our first hike of the day. It was a steep and winding 2 miles up the side of a cliff, then through a cool narrow ravine before going higher up to a plateau. There was an additional half mile of treacherous rock climbing with chain railings for support, that took you to the tippy top of the mountain ridge. Nothing for the faint of heart or for anyone with fear of heights. Amy and Drew made it a quarter of the way before turning back. Bob and Ben went the entire route, [View Full Entry]

We were following our route and were pleasantly surprised to find we had to drive through the entire park in order to get to our camp ground. The drive was windy, narrow, and sometimes nerve-racking but the views were amazing. We drove through a long tunnel that went into the mountainside, and finally arrived at the campground with incredible views from every angle. [View Full Entry]

Moss Cave North America » United States » Utah » Bryce Canyon
Our last morning at Bryce Canyon, we packed up camp and then drove the RV up to Rainbow Point, the southern-most and highest scenic lookout of the park. On the way back down we stopped at a few of the other scenic lookout spots, and then went all the way to the lowest part of the canyon at Moss Cave. It was a short hike up to a waterfall and then over to the cave, where dripping water that flows through the rocks allows moss to grow on the ceiling and sides, and feels good on your head in the heat! After a long but beautiful drive (11 hours) through Colorado and Utah yesterday, we arrived at the world famous Ruby's Inn just a quarter mile outside Bryce Canyon. The campground is nice and the boys have been on their bikes exploring and looking for license plates from all the states. They are up to 35 states so far! This morning we took a shuttle up to the park. We made a three mile hike, first along the rim and then down into the canyon. It was absolutely breath-taking! Going back up the side of the canyon was a tough hike but [View Full Entry]

We woke up this morning after spending the night at a rest stop alongside a bunch of truckers. It was noisy with all the trucks running but we were tired. We picked Manitou Springs as a stop at the last minute on our way to Bryce Canyon and boy are we glad we did. We found a great little campground with a running stream behind us. We pulled in around 1pm, hung around camp for a while and then drove up to Garden of the Gods. Even though it was a little cloudy and rainy, it was a great hike and [View Full Entry]
