Heide, so sorry I missed your call...AGAIN! Will take pictures of our new place and send them to you ASAP. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Cal wanted to dress up as a girl, but somehow his wig mysteriously disappeared this morning...LOL. He's dressing up as the muscle man from Fantastic 4. Whoohoooo October 29th 2006
Hi guys,
I started a message and you might have got it but I'm not sure since I've got Chelsea in my lap and she loves to use the mouse. Anydaho, I'm at a loss for words, almost. Heidi, your writing is entertaining and so bloody accurate. You bring back tonnes of great memories for me. Going to Africa was one of the highlights of my life. I went for the animals but came away completely touched by the people. It seems trite to even say it now but I bet you know what I'm talking about. I have never wanted for anything material since returning home and am continually grateful for life's small graces. Can't wait to read your next entry. Wayne stayed at the watering hole in Etosha until five in the morning watching the various animals come and go. It was like watching the best play ever - one act, after another. Time flys over us and leaves it's shadow behind and yours is getting longer every day. Take care and best wishes.
Love from Shannon
p.s. - my Grandmother was really tickled to received your postcard!
p.s.s. - Jordon, I like your haircut and your last entry. So much fun in the gorge! Did you enjoy sandboarding? I had a heart-attack when I did it and still cringe to this day thinking about it. Give me a pair of skis any day. Speaking of which - no snow here yet, little bit of rain, looking forward to Hallowe'en and some trick or treating. Wayne and I spent the Hallowe'en of '96 near Etosha and Wayne dressed up as 'spoon man' and I was 'lady in dress' - go figure. Lame, I know. I think we paniced the locals cuz they didn't know about Hallowe'en at all. Needless to say, it was slim pickings for chocolate. Jayden says 'hello' and is looking forward to reading more entries from you. That, and now he wants to travel the world. Don't we all???? Take care, S.
miss you guys! So glad you guys are having some down time! It was fabulous to hear your voice the other day...and so surreal to think you were so far away in the middle of AFRICA! You sounded so close! Hey Jordan....LOVE your hair!!!
I miss you I miss you so much, wish I was with you. I went skating at Moody Park areana last night. They had a Hallow'en theme going on. I brought home a huge pumpkin which I carved a scary face on.
Today I am going to watch my sister, Stephanie play soccer. It is beautiful and sunny, just the way I like it.
I learned how to do a Ollie when I was skate-boarding. Whew...it was hard but I did it. lol I am also playing volley-ball on my school team and we have our first game next Wednesday after school. I get up at 7:00 in the morning, meet my friend and we go to practice at the school on Mondays and Thursdays.
Really miss you lots. Love, hugs, kisses

So impressed Hi Heide and Jordon,
Incredible is all I can say. I am mesmerized by the blog.I identify with the need to cast off the city. Your style of writing brings me right to what you are seeing, I can almost feel it......like a good book, I crave the next chapter.
Stay safe and soak it all up.
Green with envy

Congratulations! Congratulations Heide! The power of our written word is enormous. There is a small spark of writing in most of us just waiting to be ignited by our creative wind. And you Heide have certainly ignited your creative wind with your eloquent blog re Zwelihle township. There is a narrowness to all our lives, lived as we are in privilege and in full consciousness that millions of less fortunate, but equally deserving souls go without. Unique experience for you Heide adding value and quality to your life. I'm sure very fulfilling. Very moving stories and pictures.
It is true A picture really is worth a 1000 words!! Nice job capturing the true essence of the town and the people. Keep it up!
Ciao for now brown cows

P.S. - DAY 13 TODAY - WOOHOO!!
This was an eye opener! Hey guys, great pics and an even better read. I was so touched and moved by what you saw and the people you met. There is a great deal of misconceptions when it comes to some of those places in S.Africa.
Sharks! Oh my god! I can't believe you guys weren't scared and did that twice! It scared me just to look at the pictures of you guys doing that. You guys are sooooooo brave!!!
osterich and caves I love Osterich!!!! Its very good for you. Low in fat and very high in protein. Jordan is very brave. I could never do it. I remember when we were kids and you and Chet and Sylvia would always swim under the swim raft. I could never do it. That tiny chimney looked really scary to me. I think you're cabin is cute!!!~ LOL. Happy, Safe travelling.

No Caves for me Your pictures of the caves are incredible but I am glad you two are in them and not me - wonder if anyone has ever had to be hauled out because of fear or being stuck? What does ostrich taste like?
Hey guys......
It's June 15th and I am back in Kathmandu, we just arrived back from Pokhara where we did our long awaited 50km trek through the Himalayas. It was incredible, the experience of a lifetime. The monsoon season just started and there have been some really fantastic storms.....thunder so loud it shakes the buildings and jolts you from your peaceful sleep in the middle of the night. I love it. We are just kind of hanging out, day to day life and waiting to go to India....India - where it hit 50 degrees the other day!! You might say we are crazy but we are planning on headin... full info
