Basically I wanted to use this page to display the photos and tell you a bit about my time at CROW. I arrived in durban on the17th November from Cape town, and this is where I spent 6 weeks-5 of them volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation centre for animals in Yellowood Park,Durban. The centre was fantastic-it consisted of a clinic,which housed the office, vet clinic,animal quiet room,baby room for baby birds which was heated,other young birds which were kept in cages before being released to a larger enclosure,and a few monkeys at various times that were badly injured or who had undergone surgery and needed a close eye kept on them. And so the adventure begins... SOUTH AFRICA 19th October: LondonDohaJohannesburg Arrived in J'burg about 5am-was so bloody tired cause couldn't sleep on the plane. Took a chance and got a taxi to hostel where I met mumma & her friend Bev. Had some breaky and then slept!! Got up round lunch time and went into Soweto, a township in J'burg with a pop. of 4.5 million blacks-it was only in 1992 that white people were allowed to enter this part of J'burg. Heaps of cute children. While we were there visited the Hector Peterson Museum-in memory of the named,a 13yr old student, who was shot dead during a rally of students protesting against learning Africaans on 16th June 1976. 12th September-10th October 2005 (Trekking Annapurna Circuit 16th Sept-4th Oct) Following is a transcription of the diary i kept along the way while hiking Flew out of London on the 11th Sept via Doha (Quatar) and arrived into Kathmandu (Nepal) on the 12th, I was welcomed outside the Kathmandu airport by the friendly locals offers of "you need transport?where you going?where you from?you need a taxi-I give you taxi good price"-the entree' of Nepal! After basically telling them to "go away" in the nicest possible way and that i had transport organised,I looked for my transport and low and behold it was nowhere in site!!
