Hakuna_matata86 - Helen Slipper

Helen Slipper Hmmm, I hate having to write this little Biography pieces!
Suppose all I have to say is that I've never been on a plane before, only ever left the UK to go abroad to France, and now I'm off to New Zealand for a month on the Kiwi Experience. Here I hope to keep everyone (who for one reason or another might be slightly interested in my escapades) up to date with what I'm doing, though don't expect daily updates! I may start with good intentions but you know the story!

Back in Singapore

Have arrived in Singapore eventually. Flight had to make emergency stop in Darwin as someone was taken ill. This means I've missed my connecting flight and now don't get in to Heathrow until 7.10 tonight instead of 3.30. Home soon though! [View Full Entry]

Auckland

Oceania » New Zealand » North Island » Auckland
Had a fairly chilled day yesteday, walked out to the harbour bridge and out across to the middle of it (Don't think I need to do Cromer Pier now Dad!) Then went up the Sky Tower in the afternoon for some wicked 360 views of the city. Then sat in the highest cafe in the Southern Hemisphere and watched Liverpool v. Man utd. Wish I'd known it was nil nil before I started watching! Last day today :( But I do get to come back and see everyone :) and then go to uni! :) Going to take a ferry out [View Full Entry]

So much to add since I last managed to update! Travelled out from Auckland to Paihia. As a result of bad weather could not go out for any activities this afternoon, but Kiwi Exp found us a different opportunity at some hot mud pools. Was really relaxing and we were filmed by Kiwi at the same time, believe it will be for some new videos showing kiwi exp activities! Had an amazing day yesterday on a trip right up to the most Northerly point - Cape Reinga. Had to be careful up there, as it's a really spiritual Maori place where [View Full Entry]

Well, spa was fully booked, so am having one early tomorrow morning, nice full body massage! So instead tonight I have just seen Bay of Plenty Steamers vs North Harbour at the the Rotorua International Rugby Stadium (If you can call it a stadium) It's mainly terraces with one main stand. Was an amazing match, got to see Jonah Lomu acting as 'Water Boy' for his team (Harbour). Also, No one told me I was supporting the relegation/foot of the table strugglers! BOP are one place off the foot of the table! Arrive in Auckland tomorrow, circuit complete except for Bay [View Full Entry]

Had an awesome morning going round Wai-o-tapu thermal wonderland. The colours were amazing, a totally worth it experience! The Lady Knox Geyser was also very worth it too, shooting about 20m into the air. Am hoping to try and add some more pictures soon, but need to find a computer that will allow me to upload direct from my camera. :( Going to book my Spa soon! [View Full Entry]

Arrived in Rotorua early today, as was only a short trip up from Taupo. Having checked in to Base Backpackers (NOT Hotrocks this time), went off to see the Rainbow Springs which, incidentally were really really nice, got given a headset of information to listen to and got to see lots of native birds, and also the Turatara! After that I travelled up to agrodome with Courtney and we did a farm tour, got to see lots of sheep(!), and feed some alpaccas (have I spelt that right?). We also got to taste some kiwifruit wine (dry but sweet really bizarre [View Full Entry]

Taupo again

Oceania » New Zealand » North Island » Taupo
Have now reached Taupo after spending the the last day and a half in Wellington. Went and visited the Parliament buildings and Te Papa museum yesterday. Both were interesting to see, some very decorative rooms in the Parliament, though no sitting while I was there as preparations are under way for the election this weekend. I wish I'd had more time for Te Papa, it's a huge museum with several interactive rides etc in it too, though the virtual bungy wasn't very convincing. All the maori stuff was cool though, though I barely had enough time to stop and read anything [View Full Entry]

Very easy day today, short trip up to Kaikoura from Christchurch, stopped briefly to see a very close to seal colony. Following that out arrival in Kaikoura was disappointing as very very foggy, resulting in no dolphin or whale trips :( Off to Wellington tomorrow! [View Full Entry]
