Today was museum day and the dreaded italian roads day. When you look at Italy without going there, you think its a nice country to visit and seeing as they make all these different brands of supercars, it will be a nice place to drive through. How wrong would you be. It was chaos. Speed limits in the built up areas are mostly 50km/h zones, yet the locals refuse to do these speeds. We were overtaken doing 60km/h by a local who went past us on a junction with other cars coming towards us. Absolutely bonkers. Also, the italian police aren't exactly a friendly bunch. One, they carry guns, 2, they are quite intimidating and finally when they pull you over, they don't say a word. Just about to head onto an Autostrade (which itself is ... read more

Day 4. This is the biggie. Mid afternoon, this seemed like the worst day, but on the way to the hotel, it all dawned on us that this would probably be the best day of the entire trip. We soon set off from Garmisch after a quick tyre change to get some more tread, as we didn't really like the idea of going up and down the Stelvio Pass on a tyre with near minimum tread. We took on some lovely winding mountain roads. Nothing compared to what we will get later. We stopped off at a little golf course surrounded by mountains, just as it was starting to rain. The rain was torrential, and we were warned about this. Wipers on full, doing about 30km/h in a 70km/h zone. We approached the Austrian border within ... read more

After leaving the Hotel B&B at around 8:30ish, we headed for the Rhine and decided to follow that all the way to Bingen. We followed this route as the distance and time is about the same and we got to see the beautiful Rhine river and valley. A lot of castles, but not a lot of places to stop and take pictures. It didn't help that it was very foggy. Along the Rhine, we saw a lot of wine rows, and when I say a lot, I mean miles and miles of wine rows. We soon headed onto the autobahn and headed for the Hockenheim Motorsport museum and track. The museum wasn't much cop, a lot of bikes, not a lot of cars, but you can't complain about the price of €6. The track was open, ... read more

Day 2. This was the drive from St Omer, France to Koblenz, Germany. We got up around 7ish, ready for breakfast and the morning meeting. Everyone was dozing from the night before, so people set off whenever they wanted. The trip was about 4 1/2 hours, but we did do about 80mph on the unrestricted German Autobahn, so it quickly flew by. We set off from St Omer on the hunt for diesel. Luckily, the 306 is quite good on diesel, so we used 3/4 of a tank from Somerset to St Omer, which we were amazed at. We found fuel on the border between France and Belgium, as did a lot of the other teams. Having not ventured out of Somerset apart from holidays, I was amazed at how they sold fuel over there. You ... read more

So, Day 1. We started out in Somerset the day before, where we had to get everyone, and all our stuff, into a 15 year old 3 door car. 3 guys, 1 weeks plus worth of clothes and then some random essentials. We soon realised that not everything would fit into the boot. No problem! 5 seats mean we could pile stuff onto the seat behind the driver. Later on into the trip, this became a bad idea, more on that later! Next stop was Snodland, Kent which was our first stopover before we had to get the morning ferry to Calais. Next morning (6th September), we noticed we had an oil leak. Being us, we were optimistic and just carried on without worrying. We set off at 10am for the 12pm ferry. It only took ... read more
