Headed off to Montenegro from our place in Zell Germany. Had no idea what we were getting into or what we would find there. What we found was a beauiful calm peace place of Kotor Montenegro. On a double feord off the Adriatic sea. We have lived here in an apartment with a view of the bay, and a short walk to Kotor Old town. We love to walk into the old town ( Stari Grad) althought the shops are very tourist oriented you can find some home made objects. The cruise boats stop coming into port mid November, not good for the local economy but better for us. Like most of Europe the towns people love to sit outside and enjoy a coffee or beer with friends, with no loud music or 15 big screen TV's.
Just after Christmas we drove to Albania, what an experience that was. The landscape is very beautiful, with snow capped mountains in the back ground, rolling hills and the Adritic Sea.
We thought driving in Montenegro was challanging, but wait, Albania is crazy!! Before 1991 there were only 600 cars , now 6000 and the roads have not changed any. There is totally disregard for any road rules. Funny we saw all kinds of Auto Skool( driving schools) on the road but I have no idea what they would teach them. The drive whatever speed they want, stop on the road where ever and when ever. Very happy to leave and come back to Montenegro to the crazy calm we have gotten used to.
